WELCOME TO KOREA In recent years, interest in Korea has been on the
rise This is mainly due to the popularity of Korean pop
culture in other nations, including K-pop music and dramas
Those who are interested usually come to Korea as tourists and stay for a couple of weeks
However, there is a better way to experience Korea and learn about the country, culture, and people: Participate in Korea University’s International Summer Campus (ISC) program
The ISC is a gateway to understanding Korea and enjoying all the nation has to offer
ABOUT KOREA UNIVERSITY First established in 1905, it has been one of the most
prestigious universities in Korea for over 100 years Korea University is ranked as the overall top private
institute in Korea by The Times and is known as one of the top research institutions in Korea
The University’s motto is “Liberty, Justice, and Truth” The University Campus covers 190 acres and houses more
than 33,000 students from all over the nation and the world
ABOUT THE ISC PROGRAM
The ISC program run by Korea University is a 4 or 6 week academic program that runs from the end of June or early July until August
In 2014, over 1,600 students participated from 230 institutions in about 40 countries in the world.
Classes are held at Woo Dang Hall, which is a newly renovated six-story building with a computer lab on the first floor

FACILITIES In addition to specialized
libraries such as the Law School Library, there are four main libraries: the Central Library, Science Library, Medical Library, and Seochang Library with combined holdings of over 2.6 million volumes

FACILITIES (CONT.) The University Welfare and Health Center provides
primary medical and dental care for students. There is one central clinic on the Main Campus and two branch clinics on the Science and Seochang Campus
The Korea Medical Center consists of two general hospitals and two teaching hospitals with the latest technology available for the detection and treatment of disease
The Community Education Center offers programs that provide meaningful educational opportunities to the community such as special lectures by guest speakers on issues of public interest

CLASS STRUCTURE Each class is 3 credits each and offers a full-semester load of
coursework totaling 48 hours All courses are taught in English except for Korean language Classes are held Monday through Thursday and students can
take a maximum of 3 classes All classes have a limit of 50 students and if there are less
than 10 students enrolled in a class, that class may be canceled
Day trips are available during weekends to places such as the DMZ, Folk Village, and Gyeong Bok Palace
GRADINGAcademic performance is graded on four factors:
exams, assignments, attendance, and class participation.
KU’s academic regulations state that students must attend at least 70 percent of the class in order to receive a passing grade, but different professors may have their own attendance policy

STUDENT LIFE Visa and Alien Registration
It is the student’s responsibility to use the acceptance letter to obtain the correct type of visa at the Korean Embassy or Consulate Office. A 90 day student (C-3) visa is ideal.

You will need a virtual account number, which will be given to each applicant upon completion of the online application
REQUIRED DOCUMENTSIn order to be eligible, students must have completed

passport page that shows the photo, name, and passport number
International students must provide proof of health insurance that is VALID during the period of the ISC program
APPLICATION PROCEDURE
1) Complete the application online and receive an 8 digit application number
2) Pay the non-refundable application fee of 100,000 KRW3) Mail an official academic transcript to the ISC office and
wait for an email from the ISC office with a letter of acceptance
4) Send a copy of your passport to the ISC office via mail, fax, or email
5) Pay the tuition, housing, and any other applicable fees6) Send proof of health insurance via email, fax, or in person7) Come to Korea University to enjoy your summer experience
