Basic Copying Instructions
*This is a digital copier. Originals will be scanned once – and will print many! There is
unlimited staple/sorting and unlimited 2-sided copying!
*Press STOP to cancel copying and AUTO RESET to restore the copier default settings.
IMPORTANT!!! PAPER SUPPLY: DO NOT EXCEED 24LB. (INDEX) IN TRAYS 1-4, INCLUDING
THE LCT. DO NOT EXCEED 55-3/4LB. (INDEX) IN THE BYPASS TRAY.
TRANSPARENCIES: MAKE SURE THEY ARE COMPATABLE WITH DIGITAL
COPIERS AND ARE FED THROUGH THE BYPASS TRAY ONLY.
STAPLE/GROUP/SORT:
Staple: When stapling 8.5 x 11 (in the portrait position), make sure originals are loaded
in the document feeder in the portrait position. If originals are printed on 8.5 x 11 (in the
landscape position), load originals in the document feeder in the landscape position. This
will ensure stapling in the desired corner.
Sort: Sorted sets will place pages in order of page 1, page 2, page 3, page 4….
Group: Grouped sets will consist of all page 1’s as a set, all page 2’s as a set, all page 3’s
as a set….
Offset: Offsetting your copies will stagger each set by approximately 1 inch
*NOTE: HOW TO OFFSET COPIES WITHOUT A FINISHER:
If the copier does not have a finisher, load 8.5 x 11 paper into tray 1 in the portrait
direction and 8.5 x 11 paper in the landscape direction into tray 2. When sort or group is
highlighted one set of copies will come from tray one, the next from tray 2, and will
continue to switch trays until copying is completed.
DUPLEXING: When the simplex/duplex tab is selected, a user may specify if the originals have print on
one side or both sides, and if desired copies should have print on one side or both sides.
Simply select 1 sided or 2 sided under the originals column (depending if the originals
either have print on one side or on both sides of the paper) and select 1 sided or 2 sided
under the copies column (depending if the copies should have print on one side or both
sides of the paper).
COPY DENSITY: Auto means the copier will automatically pick how light or dark to make a copy. This
means that if an original is exceptionally dark, the copier will lighten it; if an original is
exceptionally light, the copier will darken it. This is the copier’s default. If you wish to
override this function, you may use the lighter key to lighten a copy and the darker key to
darken a copy.
ZOOMING (REDUCING AND/OR ENLARGING):
The Zoom feature will either reduce the size of an image or enlarge it. This is
accomplished by selecting the zoom tab. A user may wish to pick a preset percentage to
either reduce or enlarge, or key in a percent manually. This is done by pressing the XY
zoom key and using the keypad to enter a specific percent. A user may also use the + or –
keys to bump the percent up or down in small increments.
PAPER SIZE:
Automatic paper select means the copier will automatically recognize the size of paper
that is the original, and pick the coinciding size paper for the copied image. For example,
if an original is on 8.5 x 11 size paper then the copy will be on 8.5 x 11 size paper.
Automatic paper select is the copy machine’s default. In order to override this function,
simply select a different paper tray that contains a different size of paper. This will allow
an 8.5 x 11 size original to be copied (and enlarged to scale) onto 11 x 17 size paper. This
would be accomplished by selecting the tray with the 11 x 17 size paper. This process
holds true for the following sizes of paper and can be mixed and matched in any order:
5.5 x 8.5, 8.5 x 11, 8.5 x 14, and 11 x 17. (Remember to keep in mind the orientation of
the paper. For example, load the 8.5 x 11 size original in the landscape position when
requesting that the copy be on 11 x 17 size paper).
*Note: When copying an original that is smaller than 8.5 x 11, the screen may ask for
5.5 x 8.5 size paper. If this occurs, just select the paper tray that contains the size paper
you would like your copy to appear on.
