The juxtaposition of thebalance inherent in sans-serif le�e�orms and the notion of text being a�ected by the laws of gravity is a central theme inKOMETA’s �rst release. Notice the top-heavy details and livelyaccents of Labil Grotesk2—appearing as if dancing.The origin of Labil Grotesk goes back to a typeface done as a master’s thesis project nominated for Czech National Award for Student Design 2016. Encouraged by the reception, Christian Jánský set out to remaster the whole family—leaving the concept intact. A�er 3 years of develop-ment, it is �nally available in 8 weights (Hairline–Black) with a myriad ofalternates conveniently categorised into 8 stylistic sets. What sta�ed out as a �rst foray into typeface design evolved intoa comprehensive sans-serif family of 32 multilingual fonts–suppo�ing Latin Extended-A, i.e. Western European, Central European & Southeast-ern European languages–plus a wealth of contextual alternates, bonus glyphs and case-sensitive forms easily accessible via OpenType.
