SAP CAD Desktop
• CAD Desktop is a powerful tool that brings together views of
information stored in both the SAP and CAD systems
• Document structures in SAP reflect the originals in SolidWorks
• SolidWorks defines the complete structure and transfers it to the
SAP system through the direct integration
• CAD Desktop provides several views of the CAD documents
– SAP View – shows what is stored in SAP
– CAD View – shows the current active SolidWorks document
– CAD Work List – shows all open SolidWorks documents
– CAD Working Directory – shows files in personal work directory
– Document List – shows documents based on search criteria

CIDEON Conversion Engine
• CIDEON Conversion Engine for SAP PLM is a key
component of the Kodak SAP Solution
• The Conversion Engine creates neutral files (JPG,
PDF, JT) of each CAD file for viewing in various
applications
– For Kodak this includes the SAP GUI, SAP
EasyDMS, and the SAP Engineering Portal
– SAP Portal provides access to relevant documents
(SolidWorks, neutral files, procedures, etc.) for key
suppliers

Learnings and Recommendations
• Have a Solid Document Migration Strategy
– Do as Much Data Cleanup as Possible before
Migrating
– How will you deal with missing files?
– Configured Parts/Toolbox
• Training
– DIR vs. Material. Semantics can be confusing
– Plan to spend twice the time that you had expected
• Spend Enough Time to Understand the Tool
25 ©Eastman Kodak Company, 2014
Possible Future Enhancements
• SAP PLM Upgrade
• Add Cache/Content Servers in Regions to Provide Access
• Improve Export of Information to Key Partners
• Add Additional Kodak Products
