The Workshops at Kaleva Church:

1. Eco bibliodrama (14.00 and 15.30 0´clock)Discover the “green passages of the Bible” through drama, dance and other creative methods. Each one of us is God´s creational workmate in his/her own everyday life. Discover, towards what sort of a life style these biblical texts lead us to. For this workshop you need to bring with you an open mind, curiosity and willingness to try out new things. Workshop-leader: pastor and drama-director Heidi Peltola

2. On stage – learning performance skills (14.00 and 15.30 0´clock)Everybody knows, how a good teacher should act like, but what happens, when suddenly the pupils become the ones standing in front of the class? Can skills of acting and performing be learned? Comedian Mikko Vaismaas answer is “yes” and he will shows us, how to plan and perform funny and successful evening programs.

3. “Really?” “No, just kidding” Enough with the same old pony-song! Instead, get to know lots of new games, ideas and other fun stuff to do at confirmation- or youth camps and at weekly youth meetings in the parishes.Workshop-leaders: Milla Siivonen and Katri Tähtinen

4. Trash-Art-course (14-16:30 0´clock)Our consumer behaviour has several downsides. By buying two articles for the price of one, we at the same time redublicate the amount of litter. In the year 2007 we produced 74,1 tons of waste out of which only 40% were recycled. Did you know that one way to prevent this from happening is to paint your garbage pink? The master of trash-arts Lasse Kaikkonen will tell us why. Come and find out. You can just stop buy or stay the entire time.

5. International workshop (at 14.00 0´clock) Languages used: Finnish and EnglishGet to know young people from different countries and brush up your English skills by playing, singing and chatting with one another. Find out how youth work is done in other countries (f.e. Great Britain and Denmark) and take some impulses with you back home. Also participating: Adric Constantinou-Etheredge and Mikko McLean. 6. Classic Hymns (at 15.30 0´clock)Come and sing along songs of “Nuoren seurakunnan Veisukirja” (the red hymn-book) that have become classics over the past 40 years. Singing with us: Jaakko Löytty, Tarvo Laakso, Jani Muhonen and Houseband.

7. Chapel of Silence (13.00-17.00)The chapel of the Kaleva Church is open for prayer and meditation. A Taize-prayer moment will be held at 15.15 o´clock.

9. Video workshop by the journal “Fleim” (at 14.00 and 15.30 0´clock)Do you find the Bible old-fashioned and somewhat uptight? At the video workshop we will approach the Bible from a new angle by making humorous videos about some topics of the Bible. You can participate in writing the screenplay or by standing in front or behind the camera. The video-clips will be shown to the public on Saturday evening during the CrossRock –concert and also published on the official Fleim-website. The participation is limited to 12 persons. Come by yourself or in pairs or even with a group. Service, exercise, knowledge and adventure are the topics that we will be working on. You will also have the change to meet other young people, who have participated in Award-activities in Finland and hear about their experiences about international happenings and camps in Latvia, Israel, Malta or Germany. Some things to do for the employees:

What comes after youth work? (14.00-15.00 o´clock) location: “työntekijäkahvio” (the employees´café)For the employees of Tampere Kanava and voluntary leadersConfirmation- and Youth Work are the national pride and crown jewels of the Finnish Church. However resent studies show that the same thing can´t be said about the work with young adults. Often the parishes are having a hard time reaching the age group of young adults. This workshop invites you to participate in a discussion about the attractiveness and effectiveness of the work with young adults and challenges you to find new solutions and options for the future work with young adults.
