Issue:
The Advanced Flange feature does not work properly post-NX8.5. This feature is used to create a bend along
a tangent edge. NX9 displays the preview of the Advanced Flange, but when selecting OK or Apply, the
feature fails.
Details/Images:
Suggested Work-around:
Create the flange using surface commands then thicken.

Issue:
Application: /Daimler AddOns /TubeCable
Bend table cannot be generated for pipe with end treatment. This seems to happen only for certain
combinations of stock, UDF and path geometry.
Details/Images:
There could be different or multiple error messages like this:
Suggested Work-around:
Disable end features in the history tree before running tubing tool.
Status/Ref: Escalated to Daimler: 09MAY14 (CISM 25518718)

4 Internal DTNA Engineering Services - CAD-EDM Methodology NX9.0 ENVIRONMENT v14.2.3
Issue:
Application: Routing Mechanical.
In Shape Locked Length mode, tangent constraints at end points are ignored.
Details/Images:
Images not available at time of publish.
Suggested Work-around:
1. Add third point between ports or fixtures.
2. Avoid driving the shape of the spline with a length constraint. Instead, manipulate the spline using routing
points.

5 Internal DTNA Engineering Services - CAD-EDM Methodology NX9.0 ENVIRONMENT v14.2.3
Issue:
In NX 9.0, Routing Mechanical application: stock transition sometimes creates a hyperboloid connection
between two pipe sections.
Details/Images:
Suggested Work-around:
When stock transition cannot create a conical transition, create a revolute in Modelling, and unite with the two
sweeps.

7 Internal DTNA Engineering Services - CAD-EDM Methodology NX9.0 ENVIRONMENT v14.2.3
Issues:
1. CATIA V5 data (JT's) exists in many versions within SMARAGD with varying capabilities.
2. Some JTs (lightweight parts) are not visible after loading into NX.
3. V4 to JT forward conversion results in failure to ‘Show Exact’ within NX. ‘Show Exact’ converts the data
from a faceted model to a exact version.
4. JT opens in NX as faceted body. Inconsistent loading of JT derived from V4. Unable to convert to JT B-
Rep. Synchronous Modeling may not be used.
5. Data loss in 3D data = Surfaces missing.
6. Unable to recognize basic geometry shapes like Hole, Cylinder, Radius, etc. while measuring.
7. Unable to recognize center lines, axis while constraining.
8. JTs derived from V4 and some V5 are missing from their respective projected drawing views.
9. Inconsistency with drawings loaded independently of 3D containing legacy JTs.

8 Internal DTNA Engineering Services - CAD-EDM Methodology NX9.0 ENVIRONMENT v14.2.3
Issues:
10. Limited dimension and annotation capability. Unable to create dimensions to shapes like holes, cylinders,
radii, more.
11. Dimensions and annotations lose associative link when drawing is loaded independently resulting in
visibly broken annotations (red dashed lines).
Suggested Work-around:
None
Status/Ref: Escalated to Daimler. (Various)
• DTNA anticipates many issues to be resolved with EBT (COM\FOX with Elysium) conversion to JT v6.2.1
• As of 26JAN15, all released CATIA V4 models have been upgraded to JT v5.5.2. No additional
enhancements will be made to CATIA V4 converted data. The translation has been finalized.
• CATIA V5 > JT versions exist at various levels. Certain issues have been corrected in each
subsequent version. A mass migration of released CATIA V5 data to JT v6.2.1 is currently in-process.
ETA: 31DEC15.

12 Internal DTNA Engineering Services - CAD-EDM Methodology NX9.0 ENVIRONMENT v14.2.3
Issue:
Flat Pattern Views rely upon an associativity to the source Sheet Metal part. When stored in Smaragd the GEO
and DWG are vaulted in separate locations. The linked annotations can not find the source when plotted
Details/Images:
Suggested Work-around:
Use the auto-generated flat pattern annotations as a guide to create new non-parametric text then delete the
originals. Alternatively, the original may be edited.

Issue:
Default drawing and model view orientations do not match Daimler's 3D vehicle orientation, i.e. pos(+) X =
Rear, pos(+) Y = Right, pos(+) Z = Up.
Details/Images:
Solution:
Daimler has created new default views designated with a double underscore followed by the view name. The
PartConfigurator filters out the incorrect 3D model views as shown. In Drafting, the views can not be filtered.
Users are instructed to scroll to the bottom of the Model View list when projecting Base Views.
