knowledge work forecasting and planning
DESCRIPTION
This vignette will focus on the idea of disconnecting the forecasting of work system production from the planning of consuming work from the system to produce business value. The key idea we will discuss is the creation of a work unit that can be used in both the forecasting and planning. In forecasting, the work unit is used to specify “how much” can be produced given a specified amount of time, staff, and budget. In planning, the work unit is used as a unit of allocation to the key initiatives identified by the business. Two forecasting models, a planning model, and a tracking model will be discussed to generate ideas for the follow on dialog.TRANSCRIPT
