The Bible actually tells us that He never leaves us and He never forsakes us, but I don’t know that I have ever really believed that. I mean, isn’t it true that when I mess up, He distances Himself from me? NO! In fact, the opposite is true. The Bible tells us in Isaiah 30:18 that “the Lord longs to be gracious to you; therefore He will rise up to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Knowing your identity What marvelous love the Father has extended to us! Just look at it—we're called children of God! That's who we really are. ~ 1 John 3:1a The Message

How is it possible to be in relationship with Jesus for close to 17 years and not fully know my identity in Christ? It seems that when we accept Christ, we should know our identity, right? But for me, and I believe a good portion of the Christian community, we accept Christ and then jump into the game of “being good, doing the right thing, carrying the requirement of measuring up.” I know that was how I perceived the Christian life for several years. I have spent a good majority of my 17 years trying to be the good Christian who strives to live out a holy, pure, Christian life. But the truth is, I can’t. Only Jesus can do that through me. And before He asks me to be the good girl, He asks me to be His daughter. The great news about that is that I can really make a huge mess of things and His unconditional, never-failing love for me will remain! Blessed are all who wait on Him!” God adopted me into His family, sealing me with His amazing love that never changes. He did that for you, too! Rest in His unconditional love today.

BETHEL HIGHLIGHTS:

• Learning how to be daughter of God and work out of a place of rest and acceptance rather than striving.

• Finding out that my voice is powerful and that God has something to say through me! For the longest time I have felt like I needed to do “someone else’s song” but I am realizing that my song is important and I need to write it. I am no longer the “shadow artist,” I am a powerful voice.

• Learning how to really write songs. I have taken an intensive songwriting class while here and it is teaching me SO much. For the first time, I feel like I actually have the tools to write a decent song. I am already working on some new stuff!

• Having a month of rest with my family in a beautiful state. God is good.

From the workshop: I thought it would be fun to start sharing bits of songs I am writing. This one certainly isn’t done yet, but it will eventually be about waiting for God’s promise, deliverance, healing, etc. Here is a taste:

Until that day I will say thank You. Until that day I will tune my heart to sing Your praise. Until that day I will say You are faithful And I will rejoice until that day.
