roughly divided into two broad categories: lead-acid based and lithium based. The lead-acid based batteries are also subdivided into three categories.

 Wet cell batteries: Wet cell batteries are also known as

Dry cell batteries: Unlike wet cell batteries, dry cell batteries are sealed and do not require any water replacement. In one type of maintenance free battery, the acid comes pre-sealed; in the other, the acid is poured in, then sealed, needing no further adjustments.

Gel batteries: As the name implies, instead of the lead acid being encased in liquid, it in a gel substance.

  Lithium batteries are smaller versions than the lead-
