We have been created to worship God. And so, naturally, it is a theme that we see woven throughout the scriptures. Within this grand narrative we see our hearts turn from God at the fall, his great provision for us at the cross, and a picture of his people in the end worshiping him eternally before the throne.

1. Worship is another theme that we see threaded through the pages of scripture. Read Isaiah 6:1-7 together. What is revealed about God here? What response do you see? What does it mean to worship?

2. God created mankind to make himself known and receive our worship. What kind of things do we tend to orient our lives around instead of our Creator? Where else do we look for satisfaction? How can we spur one another on to turn our eyes back to the Lord?

3. Though our hearts have turned from him in sin, God enables our worship of him through providing Jesus. Do you have a vivid memory of when you turned from treasuring other things, trusted in Christ, and began to truly worship God? Share that experience with each other.

4. Read Revelation 4:8-11 together. What does this passage tell us about our eternal future? Does it excite you? Does the eternal worship of God of people from all nations motivate you to share the gospel with others? Why should it?

5. Consider the movements of our worship service on Sundays (Praise- recognizing God for who he is in song and prayer, Renewal- confession and assurance, Proclamation- the preaching of God’s word, and Response). Why is it important as a congregation and as individuals to practice these elements regularly? Have you thought much about it when worshipping together on Sundays?

6. The sermon ended with a call to worship God with our heads, hearts, and hands? What does each of these mean? Which of these do you find the easiest? Which do you find the hardest?

Sermon Review Discussion QuestionsThese questions are for after the sermon and can be used for Life Group discussion, one-to-one discipleship, or personal reflection and application.

1. What does it mean to worship God?

2. What revelation and response do we see in the first two chapters of Genesis?

3. Each and every one of our sins is a worship problem. When we sin, what are we doing?

4. What does Abraham’s statement, “God will provide for himself the lamb,” tell us about worship? How does God provide for us in Jesus?

5. What are the four movements of our service each week? What do these parts entail?

6. What does it mean for us to worship God with our heads? Our hearts? Our hands?

In-Sermon Focus QuestionsThese questions are designed to keep you engaged during the sermon.
