Now, we will make the top of the glove in the fashion you wish. There are four choices.

For ngerless, stay on this page.

For half ngers, go to page 6

For mittens, go to page 8

For full ngered gloves, go to page 9

1) Knit four rounds. [it is recommended to try on your ngerless glove at this point and see

where it lies on your hand. In the next step we will only be adding 1.5 inches. Measure 1.5

inches from where your knitting is now. If you want the glove to be longer then that, please add

knit rounds here]

2) [K2, P2] for 1.5 inches and then bind off with larger [5.5 mm] knitting needle.

3) Now we will nish the thumb. Put half the scrap yarn stitches on a 4.5mm double pointed

(dp) knitting needle, and the other half on another 4.5mm dp knitting needle. With a third4.5mm dp knitting needle, pick up three ( four for large) stitches on the back of the glove.

Then knit 3-6 rounds and then bind off. To see how many rounds you need, keep trying on

glove after every 2 rounds until thumb its as long as you want. See page 16 for a thumb walk-

through if you need extra help.

I did not need to block my ngerless mitts, but if your yarn needs blocking, do so.

Make left hand glove and then wear, gift, or sell.

***Perform this pattern ONLY for the stitches between the markers***

/= Knit one, K1tbl of same stitchColored block= Knit

1) To start thumb knit 29 stitches, K1, place marker, then knit 1 through the back loop to make

one [K1TBL], drop stitch off left needle, place second marker, then knit to end of round. This

is round one of the thumb chart. (Right hand: K29 stitches. Place marker, K1 (don’t drop this stitch) place

marker, K1TBL, then drop stitch off left needle, and knit to end of round)

2) Knit all stitches on all rounds that are not between markers. Perform round 2 and up of chart

on all stitches between markers after round one.

*On round 21 of thumb stitches (having completed all rows) put all stitches between your mark-

ers on a piece of worsted weight scrap yarn and keep knitting around, closing the gap where

you’ve added stitches (see pictures on page 15 if confused)

*Go to page 4 for the next instructions after completing full thumb chart*

1) Knit nine rounds. Try on your glove at this point and see where it lies on your hand. Youwant it to be two rounds from your ngers with no stretch applied to glove. If its not two rows

away, knit more rows. Don’t pull the top to meet your ngers, just let it rest normally.

2) On the next round, [k1, K1tbl of same stitch, k7] repeat this all the way around. You shouldhave 36 sts on your three needles when you are done.

3) Knit one row.

4) Now we will section off the digits. If you followed the chart/thumb pattern correctly, your

thumb starts two stitches from the end. We must make the ngers lay correctly with the thumb,

so your rst nger hole won’t start directly at the beginning of next round for this reason.

Take the rst three stitches of the next round, and the last seven stitches and place them on ascrap piece of yarn. Tie. Now take the next ve stitches and the last ve and place them on a

scrap piece of yarn. Tie. Now take the next ve stitches and the last ve and place them on a

scrap piece of yarn. Tie. Now take the last six stitches and place on a scrap piece of yarn. Tie.

5) We will start with knitting the rst nger, the index nger. Your yarn is already attached

to this nger. Starting with beginning of the round (the stitch to the left of the tail if thumb

is pointing to the right) place those three stitches on a needle, and the other seven stitches on

another needle. Knit the rst three stitches. Backwards cast on a stitch. Knit ve stitches. Pick

up a stitch from the last round. Knit three more stitches. Now, divide your stitches up on three

needles, four on each needle. Knit three rounds, or until digit as as long as desired, and bind off,

and cut yarn. Do not weave in ends until the end. See page 17 for full picture tutorial.

Should be this close or a tad closer.

It will look like this.

Indexpinky

After step three the knitted edge

should be right up against your ngers

Page 7: knitted Gloves

Now we will knit the middle nger. Place ve stitches on your rst needle. Place the second

(back) ve stitches on your second needle. Knit 5 stitches, then backwards cast on a stitch. Knit

5 more stitches, then backwards cast on another stitch. Now divide your stitches evenly between

three needles, four on each. Knit four rounds, or until digit is as long as desired. Bind off, and

cut yarn.

Now we will knit the forth nger. Place ve stitches on your rst needle. Place the second

(back) ve stitches on your second needle. Knit 5 stitches, then backwards cast on a stitch. Knit

5 more stitches, then backwards cast on another stitch. Knit four rounds, or until digit is as long

as desired. Bind off, and cut yarn.

Now we will knit the pinky. Place three stitches on the rst needle, and three on the second.

Knit three stitches, and pick up one stitch from the lower level from side of hand, and then

backwards cast on a stitch. Knit three more stitches, and then backwards cast on two stitches.

Divide stitches as evenly as possible on three double pointed needles, knit four rounds, or until

digit is as long as desired. Bind off, and cut yarn.

*See page 17 for full walkthrough for forming index and page 18 for the pinky half-nger*

Use ends to cover up any holes that may have been created from picking up/ casting on stitches.

6) Now we will nish the thumb. Put half the scrap yarn thumb stitches on a 4.5mm double

pointed (dp) knitting needle, and the other half on another 4.5mm dp knitting needle. With a

third 4.5mm dp knitting needle, pick up three ( four for large on 5.0mm double points) stitches

on the back of the glove.

Then knit 3-6 rounds and then bind off. To see how many rounds you need, keep trying on

glove after every 2 rounds until thumb its as long as you want. See page 16 for a thumb walk-

through.

I did not need to block my mitts, but if your yarn needs blocking, do so.

Make left hand glove and then wear, gift, or sell.

1) Keep knitting rounds until your knitting is approximately two rows from the end of your

pinky. (A)

2) Now we will decrease a few rows.

Row 1: K14, K2 tog, K13, K2tog, K1

Row 2: Knit all

Row 3: K13, K2tog, K12, K2tog, K1

Row 4-6: Knit all

Row 7: K12, k2tog, k11, k2tog, K1

Row 8-10: Knit all.

At end of round 10, glove should *just* cover your pinky and look something like this: (B)

If it doesn’t add another knit round or two.

Round 11: K11, K2tog, K10, K2tog, K1

Round 12-14: Knit all

Round 15: K10, K2tog, K9, K2tog, K1

Round 26: Knit all

Make sure glove totally covers all ngers with about an half inch to an inch of room at the top. Now,cut string, run it through all stitches, pulling tight. This creates pointy end. (C) For at end, three needle

bind off. (D) Weave in ends.

2) Now we will nish the thumb. Put half the scrap yarn thumb stitches on a 4.5mm double pointed

(dp) knitting needle, and the other half on another 4.5mm dp knitting needle. With a third 4.5mm dp

knitting needle, pick up three ( four for large on 5.0mm double points) stitches on the back of the glove.

Then knit about 10 rounds or until stitches cover thumb. Cut yarn, run it through all your stitches, pull

tight. Weave in end. See page 16 for a thumb walkthrough.

You make full ngered just like half ngered.

Follow the half nger instructions on page 6 but, of course, don’t bind off when the pattern tells

you to. Instead, knit each nger until the stitches are ush with your nger.

Then, K2tog all the way around, knitting the last extra stitch on the round if you have an odd

number of stitches on your needles. After this, knit one more round.

Then, cut the yarn, and weave it through all stitches (like the top of a hat) pull tight, and weave

in ends.

The half nger picture walkthroughs that start on page 17 have written instructions for this as

well.

1) Start off with a slip knot and a

normal stitch on your needle (A).

2) Put your second needle in be-

tween the stitches (B) The needle

should be against the other needle,

with the yarn below it.

3) (C) Yarn over with your work-ing yarn (NOT the tail)

4) Pull this yarn over through the

two stitches. (D)

5) Yarn over on your second nee-

dle (NOT using tail) (E)

6) Now slip your rst needle

under the stitch on your second

needle (F) and pull it over the

yarn over that is also on your sec-

ond needle, leaving the yarn over

on the second needle (G)

7) You have now formed that third

stitch. Slip it on to your left needle(H) and repeat from step 2 (B) to

form more stitches.

*many use a crochet hook to do

this, but I don’t.

Index FingerYour yarn is already attached to this nger, at the be-ginning of the next round. Starting at beginning of the

next round (the stitch to the left of the tail if thumb is

pointing to the right) place those three stitches on a

needle, and the other seven stitches on another needle.

(A)

Knit the rst three stitches. Backwards cast on a stitch.

(B)

Knit ve stitches. Pick up a stitch from the last round.

(C) Knit three more stitches.

Now, divide your stitches up on three needles, four on

each needle. (D)

For half nger, knit three rounds, or until digit as as long as de-

sired, and bind off, and cut yarn. Do not weave in ends until all

digits are knit.

For full nger, knit rounds until work is ush with end of nger.

K2tog all the way around, cut yarn, and trail it through like the

top of a hat, pull tightly, and weave in.

For half nger, when you end, the top

part will be a little taller then the rest.

So, pull on the thread right below it to

tighten it up.
