knights of columbus august all saints council 11402 2019...
TRANSCRIPT
Brothers We have just completed our fraternal year for 2018 2019. We now have been a council at All Saints for 25 years. This Council has done so much over the years. We are well known in the State and our local community for the many charities that we support. I enter my second year as your elected Grand Knight. I am honored to be a part of this council. I want to thank all of you that have supported me with such a positive attitude. We are a very active council and it takes all of us to accomplish our successful events. I am looking at the Council 11402 roster. I would like to invite all members to help us update our records. Our records indicate that over 200 members have NOT PAID THEIR DUES. We need to know if you want to continue to be a part of this great council, or have you moved on to another location or another parish without notifying us. If you have moved and relocated and wish to continue as a Knight, you must first become current with your dues before you can transfer. Letting us know that you are planning to join another council is not enough. You must go to that council and fill out a Form 100 for transfer. The other council will then submit your transfer to Supreme, and they will “pull’ your membership to them. We can not “push” your member-ship to them. Any dues paid will be pro-rated between councils by duration of membership in each. If you are no longer a practicing Catholic, please let us know. This automatically disqualifies you from member-ship. You must state this fact in writing. If you simply do not wish to be a member of the Knights of Columbus, please send me an email at [email protected]. We will be heartfully sorry to hear that you are leaving the Knights, but this organization is a living charitable endeavor and not an outdated phone book.

Eberlys Wedded 50 Years
Winklers Wedded 60 Years
Our Council continues to be inundated by mar-riages of extraordinary length. Both the Winklers and Eberlys celebrated their important milestones in June. We continue on a pace of about ten of these happy observances a year.

Founding Members Still Around
At our July meeting, we were blessed to have four of our original founding members present. As you know, the council is celebrating its 25th year of existence, and we need to know the guys whose names are on the Charter Document in the lobby of McGivney Hall. They started it all. Other founding members still active are Richard Calupca, Andy Diaz, Deacon Ray Egan, Darrel Grabow, Jim Herbig, Gert Kampfer, Larry Cullen, Jim Maloney, and John Klapka. A few others have moved and are still active in other councils. Hail the pioneers!

Council in July 4th Dunwoody Parade
WE MADE IT A POINT TO THANK ALL THE OBSERVERS FOR SUPPORTING OUR CHARITIES.
Our Grand Knight got to ride in the Mercedes convertible.
We were right near the parade start.

Our 2019-2020 Officers Get Installed
The 2019-2020 Officers stand in the typical cross formation to take the oath of service for the next year. Grand Knight Woody Jones was speaking at the podium during this picture.
7
Post-Installation Reception
There’s always time for punch and cake and various munchies at McGivney Hall after an Officer installation. Any excuse for a party.

Council 11402 held its elections for the 2019-2020 Fraternal Year at the regular June Business Meeting on June 4th. Most of the officer positions were uncontested and there were no surprises. The strong slate of officers volunteered to serve another year much to our satisfaction. The three Trustees rotated down one year of service term as usual, with the one-year Trustee Dean Trantow rotating around to three-year of service left. Appointed Financial Secretary Dan McDonough has term remaining. Lecturer is appointed by the Grand Knight as is Chaplain. Bob Fiscella is Lecturer. Sir Knight Joe Inglima took over the Warden position from Sir Knight Jim Gonzales. As is well with the leadership of the council.

Creans donate to Dunwoody Nature Center Our council widow, Marie Crean, (SK. Dennis Crean died 11/1/2015) has continued their lifelong support of charitable organizations (including the Knights) by contributing to the construction of this eco-friendly classroom to be built at the Dunwoody Nature Center. The council also does its part by supporting the annual Butterfly Festival there. This article was featured in a local Dunwoody magazine. It will be named the Crean Eco-Classroom after our late brother. It is amazing how the goodness of our brothers even outlives them. We salute our widow, Marie Crean.

Council Benevolence/Charity/Service
We recorded 165 players on June 27th. This was up from 113 last month. Our Bingo sales were $2,395, prizes of $935, for a net of $1,460 We also received $284 from food donations, $400 from drink donations, and $217 from the 50/50 raffle sale. Cost of food and drink, 7% sales tax, state license fee, Crier ad cost, and cost of supplies are still to be deducted. Three Knight widows were in attendance and played gratis on the council. Thank you all for this continuing success. We look forward to a July 25th Bingo. Since the number of players was up singificantly, the net profit over last month was quite notable. Thank you all for your contribution to our charities.

For those who never expected an article in the AJC to rave about the Knights of Columbus and their good works in helping widows, here it is. Thanks to Sir Knight Gene Gannon for pointing it out. Let’s keep on helping our wid-ows as we have been.

Supreme is strongly pushing ONLINE membership as a quick doorway into KofC membership for reluctant joiners. Any practicing Catholic male who is interested in joining the Knights, but never pulled the trigger, can join online and then move at his own speed to council membership via 1st degree exemplification later. An online member is a full member getting all magazines, electronic info, and a membership card, but not assigned to a council. Online membership is $30. He can come to meetings if he chooses, but not vote. He can purchase KofC insurance. His info is sent to a local council for follow-up. If and when he decides to join a council, he is fully vetted, goes through a 1st degree, and his online membership data and initiation fees are forwarded to his council of choice. This process makes it easy for reluctant joiners to ease into council membership as time and schedule permits. Millions of men are interested in the KofC, but feel they don’t have the time to become active council members because of travel or family concerns. Tell your reluctant friends that these excuses have just disappeared.

Amazon Smile Charity Program If you purchase things online from amazon.com, please note that by going to their charity web site, smile.amazon.com, instead, you donate 1/2% of your purchase dollars to any 501(C)(3) charity of your choice. This is no cost to you. Their default charity is the Alzheimer’s Association, but you can change it to any other (example: Birthright of Atlanta or Special Olympics). Always go to smile.amazon.com instead of amazon.com when making purchases. Don’t leave free charity money on the table.

Sir Knight B.J. Van Gundy lost his father, Jerry, last month unexpectedly in a falling accident. He and his wife were traveling to a reunion, he stopped to get gas, apparently passed out, hit his head and
died. Please pray for him and the Van Gundy family. The Council provided an acolyte team of six plus choir singers at his funeral at the Catholic Church of the Good Shepherd in Cumming. Deceased Brother Sir Knight Dennis Crean (right) will have a classroom dedicated to him at the Dunwoody Nature Center by his wife Marie. Please pray for these people reported with health issues: Brother John Barranco, Brother John Pepitone, Judy Herbig, Anita Mitchell, Barbara Braza, Mike and Patsy Walker, Sir Knight Benny Mastrogiovanni, Sir Knight Wiley Maloof, and Sir Knight Ron and Jackie Collins.
Sir Knights are remembered upon death on engraved
Holy Mass chalices given to
new priests.
