Dear Brother Knights,

We have just concluded the Year of Faith this month on Nov 24th and celebrated The Solemnity of our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. It was a time of particular reflection and rediscovery of our faith. Our month of November started with us remembering our brothers that have served the Council and Community and have passed on and we remembered them all at a special mass on Nov 3rd. We have a busy and exciting month ahead where we will serve the seniors of the parish and community to a Christmas Luncheon on Dec 14th, the Children’s Christmas Party for kids will be held on Dec 21st and we will end the year with our Parish New Year’s Eve Dinner Dance. FIELD AGENT’S MESSAGE

Jose P. Cabalu, FIC, CHS Field Agent

Have you insured your most valuable asset?

Is your income protected if you become sick or injured and cannot work? Your ability to work and earn an income is your most valuable asset. Yet a disability could prevent you from earning that income. Just one year of a disability could eliminate your savings.

I would like to show you that Income Armor, an individual disability income insurance product from the Knights of Columbus, should be a key part of your overall financial plan and family’s protection.

If you are ill or injured, Income Armor provides monthly benefits to help you meet living expenses and maintain your standard of living. Your monthly benefits help you pay your mortgage and other monthly bills, while your savings and retirement assets remain intact.

In short, if you have a job and don’t have a way to protect that paycheck, you should seriously consider Income Armor today. I look forward to meeting with you.

Contact me today to schedule a meeting. I am at 778-837-2317

or [email protected].

Once again the Knights of Columbus, District# 23,

had its Annual Inter Parish Community Basketball.

This year the tournament was hosted by Council

6855. It was held at St. Paul Parish from October 5

to November 2, 2013. The main objectives of these

games were to attract young adults ages 18 yrs. and

above to join the Knights of Columbus, to promote

camaraderie among fellow Knights and to have

some fun playing sports as members of this

renowned organization.

There were 4 parishes that participated; St. Paul, St.

Monica, St. Joseph and Canadian Martyrs. The

tournament was open to all bonafide members of

the Knights of Columbus in their respective councils,

a single round robin games and the top 2 finisher

would play for the Championship game, and the

rest for the 3rd and 4th places.

This year's winner of the "3 Point Shootout

Challenge" was the Canadian Martyrs and the

“Most Valiant Team" was captured by St. Paul

Parish. The Championship Trophy was won by the

defending champion, St. Joseph Parish; the 1st

runner up was St. Monica Parish. Canadian Martyrs

and St. Paul was the 2nd and 3rd runner up

respectively. Trophies and certificates were

awarded by our Worthy District Deputy#23 Ed

Panes, State Communications Chairman, Edgar

Ursua and the Host Council 6855 GK Kevin

Mendonca.

After the awards ceremony we had a pot-luck. All

the players and guests were happy and shared all

that was brought by the different councils. Big

thanks to all our Brother Knights who spent their

valuable time to support and make the Tournament

a successful one.

The Knights of Columbus has been supporting this organisation since 2003 and has become a partner in providing this wonderful service to our brothers and sisters in this world. So far the foundation has been able to reach those that are stricken by War, Old Age, Sickness and other forms of calamites in this world and has delivered wheelchairs free of cost to places such as Cuba, Mexico, Poland, Philippines, Afghanistan, Iraq, Dominican Republic and also here at home in Canada and the USA just to name a few.

The Mission of this foundation is

- Raising awareness of the needs and abilities of people with physical disabilities.

- Delivering mobility into the lives of those who have no means to acquire a wheelchair

- Transforming lives through Mobility, and with it giving Freedom, Dignity & Hope

If you would like to know more about this wonderful organisation please visit the Canadian

Wheelchair Foundation Booth set up at each pancake breakfast or visit the website

www.cdnwheelchair.ca.

Mrs. Christiana Flessner, Executive Director Canadian Wheelchair Foundation September 16, 2013

The Wheelchair Foundation programme is progressing steadily for Council 6855. Our

Council members and acquaintances have so far contributed $4,500 which will equal to

30 wheelchairs to be distributed to people in need. I thank those brothers and friends that

have been generous and lent their helping hand by donating or soliciting others to help.

I will be looking forward to meeting brothers that I have given out forms to solicit

donations and I am confident that the season of Advent and the guidance of the Holy

Spirit will help you in getting those donations. Remember a donation of $150 not just gets

a new wheelchair, but it helps to transform people and change their lives. Thank You.

Brothers please join me in congratulating Bro Mike and Doreen Ripplinger as being chosen the Family of the Month for November 2013. Bro Mike has been with council 6855 since 1991 and has been always active in parish and council activities and Doreen has always been a big support to our council. Both Mike and Doreen drive down from Delta each month for our Pancake Breakfast setup and make sure the Maple Syrup bottles are wiped and refilled for the next day. They participate in our Council monthly family Rosary and always host the rosary annually at their residence. Both assist with Sunday mass ushering. Bro Mike has been a former Executive member and is still actively involved and is in charge of our Used Eyeglasses and Stamp Collection and Distribution. Brother Mike is a 4th Degree member and is also very active in the Assembly.

Thank you Mike and Doreen for all your help and commitment to our order and for the tremendous

support you give us at our various events. Your valuable input is greatly appreciated. May God bless you

and your family. Thank you.

Brothers please join me in congratulating Bro Jose Belleza as being chosen the Knight of the Month for

November 2013. Bro Jose has been a knight since 2008 and is a 3rd Degree member, and has always lent a

helping hand in parish and council activities. He is also there to lend a helping hand in ushering at Sunday

Mass and special events. He has been also helping at our Parish Picnic, Seniors Luncheon and is a regular at

our monthly Pancake Breakfast.

We are grateful to have such members that keep themselves actively involved in parish and community

work and are also active council members. Keep up your good work brother Jose and may many brothers

be inspired to follow in your footsteps. God Bless and Thank You.
