“I believe every woman can be handsome like men, but still have some sex appeal. “

I absolutely love Men’s Fashion and wake up every day wishing I was a guy, but then I realize the unique beauty of women, and how they can wear the same clothing as men, but look even better!

My two loves, Los Angeles + Men’s Fashion = A Master-piece in the making. This was my inspiration when creat-ing this magazine. I wanted to appeal to the creative minds, whom have a fancy for a sense of fashion. Simply expressing my thoughts, sharing my cre-ative style.

Fancy Me,Amanda Herrera

P.S. If you hate photos, don’t bother continuing. I love engag-ing others into my writing, and what better way to help than by adding an abundance of real, in your face photos.

FEAL MOR represents a new retail concept by com-bining objects, clothing, aesthetics, history and personality to create a “world within a world”. The master mind behind this idea is J.P. Plunier, an artist who has worked very successfully in mu-sic, architecture, photography and design. He says his store reflects the World at large as told through California’s rich history of architecture, design, surf culture, music and bohemia. The store features his signature knitwear collec-tion, but is also a platform to showcase his years of vintage collecting and a space to serve as a ro-tating exhibit for his future goodies to come. From one person’s “knick knacks” to another, a trea-sured style to be worn can be discovered here.

One of the areas that must be visited in Los Angeles around Downtown is the Arts District. This area is a vast part of L.A. culture and the at-mosphere is full of freedom. The “Joel Bloom” Square is one of the vital organs to this beauty of L.A. The corners of Traction and Hewitt Avenue combined with 3rd St. and Garey Avenue is a world of its own.

AREA OVERVIEW:

6

Page 10: Knic Knack Style Spy Vol.2

Street Art is found on all the buildings such as: restaurants, shops, and ware-houses. Artists are able to express all their art forms with liberty from sub-liminal images to Chicano tag writing.

Art & Culture:

7

Page 11: Knic Knack Style Spy Vol.2

A veteran who has also fought for us in the Vietnam War, has fought for this source of freedom. Joel Bloom, a pioneer and activist, as written on the sign of the square’s title, was the owner of Blooms General Store at the corner of Traction and Hewitt, the store has served as a gateway to the community for many years. Bloom was the path to entering and discovering all of the wonderful pieces and artists of that community; henceforth the square was named after him after passing away in 2007. He was an honored communi-ty activist and continues to live on through the great culture and art found there. Go on to discover the Arts district and head east of Alameda in Down-town; Los Angeles has something to offer and admire where least expected.

Baxter Finley Barber & Shop is located in West hollywood off La Ciene-ga, is a man’s getaway to kickback with the guys, tell stories, and read a couple old school Playboy magazines. From the decor to the people to the tools used the vide is very laid-back, manly, and like a sa-loon almost. There's some kind of animal skin rug, and the menu is written onto the brick wall: Haircut $40. Shave $40. Hair-cut & Shave $75. They tailor every service to the customers needs, pampering them with a eucalyptus towel to sooth the skin. They also proudly offer grooming products from: Baxter of California, Dr. Bronners, D.R. Harris, and more. Next time you are looking for a place to get a great cut, and enjoy a day with the guys, hit up Bax-ter Finley Barber & Shop, just remember to call a day prior to make an appointment.

Barber Shop:

Page 15: Knic Knack Style Spy Vol.2

Having had traumatic experiences at many barber-

shops, I had given up. Then I found Baxter Finley (via Yelp).

I’m here to tell you, the reviews are not exaggerated: this

place rocks (and so does the music they play).

The look of the place is pitch perfect: not too “salon”

but definitely not your granddad’s corner barber shop. Man-

ly meets metrosexual. Peruse the vintage Playboys for the

cheesecake, the Norman Mailer stories, or as kitsch -- your

call. Shane Middleton was like Edward Scissorhands, with

shears and scissors flying around in a kind of tonsorial bal-

let. He even took a couple of daring snips with his palm

turned upside down. This guy is a master at what he does

and it shows. He’s also completely personable.

The result was a completely life-changing haircut. I

know that sounds melodramatic, but I walked out of there

feeling like a new human being. Will be back!!
