Controls and Instrumentation King and Moffatt Group have successfully completed a number of projects where controls and instrumentation was the main aspect of the job.

A number of completed and on-going projects include food processing plants, mining sites and pharmaceutical companies. A number of these companies / plants have been in operation for decades and had to install / upgrade their operating systems to cope with technological advancements in the sectors. The recent launch of King & Moffatt’s energy monitoring system Advisor, allows organisations tomanage energy costs and identify inefficiencies in their processes. Advisor empowers organisations to incorporate KPIs, set targets, generate reports and involve management and staff to make informed energy management decisions in the drive to reduce energy costs and meet carbon commitments.

In 2015 King & Moffatt Group expanded its capabilities by opening an Energy Services Division. ABP Food Group ABP is one of Europe’s leading privately owned food processing companies with operations throughout Ireland and the United Kingdom.

The modern processing facility at Cahir, Co. Tipperary is equipped with highly efficient systems that proves their commitment to environmental challenges.

King and Moffatt Group assisted in the design stage of the project and were responsible for the entire electrical installation of the redevelopment to the Cahir plant. The works consisted of a new energy centre, abattoir building expansion, amenities area, boning hall fit-out, CPM building expansion including amenities, cold store and packing area. This work was completed in a live factory environment with minimal disruption at all times.

Arla Foods (Milk Link Facility Development) Location: Lockerbie, Scotland Client: Arla Foods

Milklink, recently acquired by Arla Foods, are part of Britain’s largest cheese producers. Since the acquisition, there has been a £20 million investment in its Lockerbie, Scotland plant. The new plant has allowed productivity to increase from 12,000 to over 37,000 tonnes of cheese a year.

King and Moffatt were tasked with the complete electrical fit-out of the plant which turned it into the biggest dairy processing facility in Scotland and one of the largest and most advanced creameries in the UK.

Bowman Ingredients Location: Hitchin, SG5 3UN, United Kingdom Client: PM Group

Bowmans are a leading supplier of flour, food coating systems and ingredients to the food industry worldwide.

Bowman Ingredient and Bowman Milling are located at the Hitchin Hertfordshire plant. King and Moffatt UK were awarded the contract to complete the electrical installation of a new production and warehouse facility which was built to cater for the uplift in production.

C & D Foods Edgeworthstown Location: Edgeworthstown, Co. Longford Client: C & D Foods

King and Moffatt Group have built a strong business relationship with the client and have completed a number of projects at the site over the years. The most substantial of these in recent years was a 60,000 tonne a year Pouch plant completed in 2009 and an Alu Tray plant designed to deliver high-end super premium products in sizes of 100g, 150g and 300g is located on the same site. The processes in this plant require instrumentation and control wiring. Other work carried out included offices and laboratories to service the plant.

Kepak Convenience Foods Location: St Georges Park, Kirkham Preston, PR4 2DW Client: Kepak Group

Kepak Group is a leading food processor with operations throughout Ireland and the United Kingdom.

Kepak Convenience Foods Division located at their Kirkham plant produces convenience foods for retail and food service markets across Europe.

King and Moffatt UK were responsible for the entire electrical installation to the new 15,000 m2 fully automated meat processing plant. The plant included automated process lines, offices, canteen and other relating amenities.

Before any work took place on site King and Moffatt personnel, along with assistance from Her Royal Majesty Prison Service and local councils, brought a new MV Supply 5 miles through the prison and housing estates. There was also a four-way ring main unit installed to ensure the site was serviced from two separate MV supplies. Also 3 transformers were installed and a spare left for future use.

Rosderra Meats Rosderra Meats is among one of Ireland’s leading food processing companies with factories throughout the country.

Their head office is based in Edenderry, Co. Offaly. The factory was destroyed by a fire in 2007 and it later emerged that a new pig processing plant was to be constructed. Through a long-standing relationship with the client and because of our capabilities within the sector, King & Moffatt Group were brought on board at an early stage to assist with the design of the new plant.

Tullamore Dew is a brand of blended Irish whiskey produced by William Grant & Sons, one of the world's biggest suppliers of whiskey including brands like Glenfiddich, Balvenie, Grant’s and Monkey Shoulder.

King and Moffatt completed the full electrical and mechanical fit-out to the Three Sisters building at thebrand new €35m distillery in Tullamore.

Bradgate Bakery Samworth Brothers, the Leicestershire-based food company, is one of the largest sandwich manufacturers in the United Kingdom.

Bradgate Bakery produces sandwiches, prepared salads and other chilled foods for both supermarket own label and branded goods.

World Business CentreLocation: Heathrow, UK Client: Arora Group

The World Business Centre is made up of two high-end office buildings, occupied by various different clients across different sectors. They are impressive four storey buildings located parallel with Heathrow Airport’s northern runway.

King and Moffatt Group completed Electrical upgrades and refurbishments to the office buildings and surrounding areas throughout 2012 and 2013. This work was carried out at a time where the office was fully live and functional and precaution had to be taken in order to ensure no clients were disrupted. The project was completed on time and within budget with minimal disruption.

Glennon Brothers Energy Rating Office Location: Longford, IrelandClient: Glennon Brothers

Glennon Brothers manufacture high quality timber products and is now discerned as a leading brand throughout Ireland and the UK timber processing industry. They operate various plants through both countries.

The project consisted of a new energy efficient office building at their plant at Longford, Co. Longford. King and Moffatt were responsible for the complete electrical installation of the project.

Quayside Development Location: Sligo, IrelandClient: Wallace Whittle

The Quayside Development includes a retail centre, offices, cinema and underground car park. King and Moffatt were responsible for the electrical installation on the project. This project was completed to the client’s satisfaction, on time and within budget.

Clapham Common Luxury ApartmentsLocation: London, UK Client: Property Management

This spectacular 19th Century building occupies an imposing position on Clapham Common Northside overlooking the verdant expanse of the common. King & Moffatt was tasked with providing all Mechanical and Electrical installation and commissioning for the project. It involved converting the building into 32 beautiful studios, 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments with superbly refurbished original features and a stunning stucco and wrought iron exterior.

Coláiste Choilm TullamoreLocation: Offaly, Ireland Client: Sisk

King and Moffatt were responsible for the complete Electrical installation of the new 5,500m2 secondary school, which was designed as a low energy research project to test and study methods of improving the environmental performance of school buildings. It is the only secondary school in Ireland to achieve an “A2” energy rating. The school consists of classrooms, science labs, engineering workshops sports hall, external play areas/surfaces, resource rooms, general-purpose rooms and offices.

University of Limerick, All Weather Sports Pitches and PavilionLocation: Limerick, Ireland Client: Stewarts

King and Moffatt were responsible for carrying out the complete Electrical installation of the sports development at University of Limerick. The project consisted of a two storey sports pavilion building providing changing rooms, referee rooms, administration and cafe/restaurant including all associated landscaping and site works. Other aspects of the works included raised floodlights and amenities for four adjoining sports pitches with associated boundary fencing and coach parking.

Sligo Institute of Technology Aula Maxima Refurbishment Location: Sligo, IrelandClient: Sligo Institute of Technology

King and Moffatt were responsible for the complete Electrical installation of the building. It consisted of the refurbishment of the Social Area and conversion of the Student Union to classrooms, together with the construction of a new adjoining car park and realigned roadway.

Dublin Institute of Technology Gleeson Hall Refurbishment Location: Dublin, Ireland Client: Dublin Institute of Technology

DIT Kevin Street is built on the site of the original technical school established in 1887, which is part of DIT’s proud history. King and Moffatt were responsible for the complete electrical fit-out of the Gleeson Hall Auditorium.

St. Dymphna’s & St. Nicholas School Location: Mayo, Ireland Client: Department of Education

King and Moffatt were responsible for the complete Electrical installation of the new single storey 2481m2 school building to accommodate St. Dymphna’s and St. Nicholas Schools and all associated site works and services. The school comprises of classrooms, sports hall, external play areas/surfaces, resource rooms, general-purpose rooms and offices. These schools provide children with autism the chance at full academics, sports and social therapy. King and Moffatt worked closely with Wallace Whittle on this new build school project to ensure the project was completed successfully.

Doubletree by HiltonLocation: Dublin, Co. Dublin Client: Blackstone Investments

The Burlington Hotel now trading as DoubleTree by Hilton underwent a 16 million euro refurbishment when taken over by Blackstone. The scope of works included strip out and re-fit out of the restaurant, bar, lobby, ballroom and 500 guest bedrooms. The entire works were carried out in a live hotel environment with minimal disruption to existing services. King and Moffatt were responsible for the entire electrical installation.

TravelodgeLocation: West Sussex, RH11 0PQ Client: Arora Group

Travelodge purchased the four-star Mercure London Gatwick Airport hotel and King and Moffatt UK were responsible for the complete mechanical and electrical fit-out of the project. The project entailed the full refurbishment to the existing hotel and the complete mechanical and electrical package for the expansion of the premises from a 260 to a 400 bedroom hotel.

Carlton Shearwater Hotel Location: Ballinasloe, Co. GalwayClient: Carlton Hotel Group

King and Moffatt were awarded the contract for the complete Electrical services. The complex includes leisure centre with a health and treatment spa fully equipped with a heated pool, one of Ireland’s largest conference centres, restaurants and bars. King and Moffatt worked closely with Glenascual Developments and Kyne and Clyne to ensure the project was completed on time within budget and to Carlton Hotel Group’s satisfaction.

Aura Leisure Centre Location: Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim Client: Leitrim County Council

King and Moffatt Electrical were responsible for the complete Electrical installation for the Sports & Leisure Facilities comprising of a 25m Pool and Leisure Centre on 2 levels, Sauna, Jacuzzi, Changing Rooms, Viewing Area, Office Area, Treatment Rooms, Children’s Pool and Gymnasium including a Fitness Monitoring System and all weather pitches and playground.

Funtasia Waterpark and Arcade Centre Location: Drogheda, Co. Louth Client: Wallace Whittle

King and Moffatt were responsible for the complete Electrical installation for this Egyptian themed entertainment center. The waterpark consists of over 200 water gushing activities. Other attractions include the Atlantis Cove play area, a 14 lane bowling alley, roller skating rink, crazy golf, rock climbing, a luxurious casino, Pharaoh’s fast food restaurant, video games, simulators and lots lots more.

Boliden Tara Mines AG Mill Location: Meath, Ireland Client: Boliden

Tara mines in Ireland is Europe’s largest zinc mine. The mine supplies part of its zinc concentrates to the smelters in Kokkola, Finland and Odda, Norway through the marketing organisation Boliden Commercial.

The Autogenous Grinding Mill, the largest single investment at the zinc mine Tara since the operations commenced over 35 years ago, was officially inaugurated on December 2009. The AG Mill is an important part of Boliden’s strategy of investment in internal growth projects and will cut Tara’s costs for grinding considerably, mainly by reducing the amount of equipment items and consumables used. It will also improve the work environment by reducing dust, noise and vibration levels.

Saffil Group Fibre Production Facility Location: Windes, Cheshire, UK Client: TSL Projects

Saffil Group is a part of Unifax Corporation, an internationally recognised manufacturer of high temperature insulation products. They provide these highly engineered, polycrystalline wool products to many different international companies across various sectors.

King and Moffatt Group were awarded the Electrical contract for the new multi-million pound production facility at their Windes plant by TSL projects. King and Moffatt Group had worked on numerous other projects with TSL and they were confident we were capable for the project.

Castle Sewage Scheme Location: Roscommon, IrelandClient: Roscommon County Council

This scheme involved a new sewage treatment plant and pumping station for the town and surrounding areas. The expansion was needed to incorporate areas that were previously not serviced.

King & Moffatt were responsible for the electrical installation for the treatment plant and pumping stations at various locations around the town.

Glennon Brothers Stress Grading and Machine Building Extension Location: Cork, Ireland Client: Glennon Brothers

Glennon Brothers is a leading timber manufacturing company operating throughout Ireland and the UK.

The project consisted of a 6000m2 stress grading and machine building, a new transformer station, a 2500m2 timber drying facility, an extension to the existing stock yard and other ancillary site works at Fermoy, Co. Cork. King and Moffatt Group were brought on board in the early stages to assist with the design elements of the projects.

Carpet Production Facility and Sales Area Location: Kildare, Ireland Client: Curragh Carpets

In 2006 Curragh Carpets decided to move from their existing premises in Newbridge town to develop a new 9,000m2 Production and warehouse facility on a greenfield site at IDA Ireland’s Newbridge Business Park. King and Moffatt were responsible for the complete design and electrical installation for the new carpet production factory, warehouse and offices.

Industry / Mining

Ansamed Location: Boyle, Co. Roscommon Client: Ansamed

Ansamed operates within the Medical Device Industry, they provide advanced extrusions and catheter solutions to the global Medical Device Industry. Our client supplies a wide range of multinational medical producers throughout Europe, Asia, and the United States. They also partner with a wide range of innovative small and medium enterprises.

The project consisted of a new extension to the rear of existing factory including new cleanroom, plant room and first floor mezzanine at Ansamed Medical Devices plant. The works were carried out in a live working environment with no interruption to the existing works.

Child and Adolescent Mental Health Facility Location: Cherry Orchard Hospital, Co. Dublin Client: Health Service Executive

The new Child and Adolescent Mental Health Facility at Cherry Orchard Hospital provides modern mental health services for young people aged 2 to 18 years. The new facility amalgamates a number of current satellite departments with varied user groups and staffing requirements and is central to the Health Service’s ‘Vision for Change’ Mental Health programme.

King and Moffatt were responsible for the complete Electrical installation of the new health facility, which had to be fully compliant with anti-ligature fixtures and fittings throughout the facility. Specialist access control is dominant through the health facility with each room and corridor interconnected correspondingly.

Dermal Labs Warehousing and Distribution Centre Location: Bedford, UK Client: TSL Projects

Dermal Laboratories is an independent pharmaceutical company operating for the past 50 years. Their focus is on researching and developing novel dermatological treatments.

King and Moffatt were responsible for the complete Electrical fit-out of the new Warehousing and Distribution Centre. Works included warehouse storage, packaging and dispensing area, offices, and wash area.

GlaxoSmithKline Manufacturing Facility Location: Ware UK Client: TSL Projects

GSK is a leading researched based multinational pharmaceutical, biologics, vaccines and consumer Health Company located worldwide.

King and Moffatt were tasked with the electrical fit-out of a new manufacturing facility within a newly created fallow space in the existing tablet manufacturing facility. The scope included the a plant room attached to the side of the existing facility together with works to plant and building services & HVAC, within the operating building, to support the new operation.

Eisai Location: Hertfordshire, UK Client: TSL Projects

Japanese pharmaceuticals manufacturer Eisai Co invested £8 million at its Hatfield, Hertfordshire production plant in the UK to create a packaging facility ahead of new products.

King and Moffatt UK were responsible for the Electrical Installation package to the new facility, which covers a total floor space of approximately 2,900m2 adjacent to the current plant, with a total floor space of about 7,800m2. The new facility is to house a ‘Lenvatinib’ Packaging Line.

Pharmaceutical / Healthcare

Midlands Prison Location: Portlaoise, Co Laois Client: Glenbeigh Construction

The extension to Midlands Prison Portlaoise marked a significant step in the ongoing prison modernisation programme. The project consisted of an additional cellblock which will provide accommodation for approximately 350 prisoners, catering facilities, additional educational, recreational and work/training facilities.

King and Moffatt were responsible for carrying out the complete electrical installation to the multi-million extension at Midlands Prison Portlaoise. The scope of work carried out included:

St Mary’s Church Location: Carrick on Shannon, Co. Leitrim Client: JJ Rhatigan

This project consisted of the complete rewire of the existing church and the complete electrical installation for the extension. Due to working at such heights safety played a large role in completing this project. It was very important that everyone was aware of the risks involved in working at heights.

Loughan House Accommodation and Education Facility Location: Blacklion, Co. Cavan Client: Glenbeigh Construction

King & Moffatt were responsible for the complete Electrical installation of a 60 bed accommodation block within the facility and the new education and training building. As it was in a prison environment it had to be completed with extreme care and with anti-ligature equipment.

The Model Gallery Location: Sligo, Co. Sligo Client: Sisk

The Model Gallery is home to The Niland Collection, which is one of Ireland’s leading contemporary arts centres. The building was a part of a redevelopment by architects Sheridan Woods in 2010, whose extension to The Model has increased the building by a third in size to create a world-class visitor centre. The building is made up of a restaurant and coffee dock, a bookshop, a wonderful gallery circuit, a purpose built performance space, and a suite of impressive artist studios on the top floor with enviable views of Sligo town and County.

King and Moffatt were responsible for the complete rewire of the existing building and the complete electrical installation of the new building.

King and Moffatt were responsible for the complete Electrical installation of a 100+ seat performance space, three art galleries, artist’s studios, cafe bar, and an arts education room.

James Joyce Bridge Location: Dublin, Co. Dublin Client: Dublin City Corporation

Due to the nature of the structure King & Moffatt had to work very closely with the design team during the installation process to ensure that all Electrical components were installed in such a way that they did not interfere with appearance of the Bridge. This involved meeting with the bridge manufacturers (Harland & Wolfe) at their facility in Belfast, to design the cable routes and ensure that the correct housings were in place for the lights to allow the correct visual effect.

To facilitate the main contractor we also had to design the stainless steel housing for the lights along the road section of the bridge, these were installed in such a way that maintenance could be carried out with ease for the end user.

Transport

As the electrical installation was carried out after the bridge was put in place (spanning across the river Liffey) Health & Safety was a very important factor. This project was completed to the Main Contractors satisfaction and within budget.




Dublin Airport Campus Location: Dublin, Co. Dublin Client: John Paul Construction

The works involved the construction of new car parks, coach parks, construction and realignment of exit/entrance roads from existing car/coach parks, upgrade and realignment of the existing main airport exit road (Corballis Road North) from a two lane to a four lane carriageway and a new dedicated 0.5km Terminal 2 exit road.

King and Moffatt were awarded the electrical contract for all works on the project. Significant planning, phasing and temporary Electrical works were necessary to ensure that power to traffic signals, signs and public lighting were kept alive at all times during the works as a key client requirement on this live Airport Campus.

Irish Rail Upgrades Location: Galway and Offaly Client: Coffee Construction

King and Moffatt were awarded the contract to complete a number of electrical and mechanical upgrades to stations on the Dublin to Galway route.

Dublin Port Location: Dublin, Co. Dublin Client: Dublin Port Authority & BAM

Dublin port, located in the centre of Dublin City, its main activities include freight handling, with a wide range of vessels, from large container carriers to small diesel lighters and ferry services running to various locations around the UK.

Over the years King and Moffatt Group have completed a number of projects for the Dublin Port Company. These projects included electrical services for Berth 50A, Berth 51A, Berth 51B and Alexander Quay Phase 3.

Dublin Airport Harristown Carpark Location: Dublin, Co. Dublin Client: NRA

King and Moffatt were responsible for the electrical installation to the project, which involved the construction of an additional 3,000 Spaces to the existing Long Term Carpark for the Dublin Airport. The Electrical installation involved:
