"Data Analytics in Education Management System”

DAY-WISE REPORT

At the outset we wish to thank you for considering our proposal for Organizing Seminar

on Data Analytics in Education Management System at the Department of Electronics &

Communication Engineering, K.L.S. Gogte Institute of Technology, Belagavi-590008.

The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering, KLS Gogte Institute of

Technology, Belagavi organized All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) sponsored

Two-day National Level Seminar on ‘Data Analytics in Education Management System’ on

30th

and 31st of October 2017.

Day1: 30.10.2018 Monday

Session 1: Inaugural

At the inauguration ceremony Dr. Prashant Patavardhan, the convener and head of department of

Electronics and Communication Engineering presented the welcome address. Dr. S. Kotrappa

from KLECET, Belagavi, Dr. Dhiraj Dhane from IIIT Pune and Principal Dr. A. S. Deshpande,

KLS GIT inaugurated the event. “Today data is currency. Collecting the data is not enough. It is

important how you analyze and present the data.” said the principal Dr. A. S. Deshpande in his

address.

Session2:

Dr. S. Kotrappa enlightened the participants on the importance of data science and different

opportunities to master in the field of data science.

Session3:

Dr. Dhiraj Dhane stressed upon importance of deep learning in technical education context.

Session4:

Ms. Vandana Ravindran, from DA-IICT, Gandhinagar, motivated the participants to take up

research in Network science using R-programming.

Session5:

Dr.P.M.Kulkarni, head of department of MBA, KLS GIT, shared his views on how important

data analysis is and guided the participants through hands-on on Tableau software.

Day2:31.10.2018 Tuesday

Session1:

Dr. Vijay Bhaskar Semwal, IIIT Dharwad, guided the audience on extreme learning machine for

clinical human walk data.

Session2:

Dr. Lakshman Mahto, IIIT Dharwad, presented details on Principal Component Analysis and its

applications in dimensionality reduction through use of matrices.

Session3:

Dr. Basudev Behera, IIIT Dharwad, briefed on how MEMS actuators play an important role in

day-to-day life.

Session4:

Dr. M. M. Munshi, Associate Professor, department of MBA, Special Officer at VTU, Belagavi

enthralled the audience through his inspirational talk on Big Data and its importance. Dr. M. M.

Munshi distributed certificates to the eligible participants.

More than 80 faculties, research scholars and post graduate students from different institutions

gained the advantage of the seminar.
