India and 2 years of completion of Thiruvetriyur branch. The function was presided over by Dr P Gunasekaran, Director, Kings Institute and J S Santhanam - Jaya Television. Retd. Prof Kuthalingam teacher of Dr N R Jeyakumar and Tambaram Prabhakar were invited to give a benediction address.
Speech on 'Food Yoga' by J S Santhanam made the audience enjoy and think about it. After celebrations its immersionThe police department government has identified five places in the
Chennai city and suburbs for immersion of Lord Ganesh idols in the sea after the Vinayaga Chathurthi festival. The idols would be allowed for immersion in the sea at Srinivasapuram in Pattinapakkam, Kasimedu fishing harbour and Tiruvottiyur in North Chennai and Palkalai Nagar in Neelankarai. For suburban area, the idols were allowed for immersion at Ramakrishna Nagar in Ennore.
After week-long festivities Lord Ganesha idols of various sizes installed in several parts of the neighbourhood, would be brought in procession for immersion in the sea. The police department is taking necessary steps to ensure the event to pass off without any hitch. The organisers have been issued a slew of guidelines, including the need for using eco-friendly material in making the idols and to ensure the smooth conduct of the procession.
A strong police force will be posted for security on the days of immersion of idols which should be done only in five notified places in and around Chennai. The idols should not exceed 11 feet in height and should be made of eco-friendly material and only such idols will be allowed to be immersed in the sea. Also, the idols should be immersed 500 metres inside the sea.
Lord Ganesha is worshiped as the supreme god of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune. On Ganesh Chaturthi, the devotees bring home idols of Lord Vinayagar in order to invoke his blessings for wisdom and prosperity and later immerse the idols in water bodies.

It resembled the shape of two big ears of an elephant. The news spread like fire and within minutes many of them gathered near the temple to see the strange coconut. The workshop is being held to dispel the wrong notions about eye donation and spread awareness about its social importance and need. The participants will be informed about the intricacies of the transplantation procedure with a visit to the eye bank.

On the occasion of the birthday of Prof. T.C.Murugesan, a biography and memoirs on the departed educationist was released and a trust named after the proffesor was inaugurated. Prof. T.C.Murugesan was a Tamil scholar and Head - Dept. of Tamil in Pachaiyappa’s College, Chennai. A Speech of Prof. Asher of Edinburgh University, Scotland, a friend of Prof.Murugesan was read out. Keynote address was delivered by Mrs.Ponmani Vairamuthu.

Daasya an NGO functioning at 12th Avenue, Ashok Nagar) donated blank CD’s and wireless Bluetooth speakers to Karuna Vidya Audio Library in Adyar for the benefit of blind students. The library converts lessons into audio form and stores it in CD’s and pen drives in its library.
The digitization is done with the help of volunteers. It has also started a new technology centre which is equipped with tools to make blind students efficient in using computers.
It includes special software to enable blind
students to access the internet. The centre also has a sophisticated machine Sara which simultaneously scans books and reads out its contents.
For girls, the reading sessions are held at Saradha Vidyalaya, North Usman Road, T. Nagar on Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3.30 p.m. to 5.30 p.m. and for boys at Bharat Senior Secondary School, Adyar on the same days from 4 p.m to 6 p.m. Food and tea are provided to all students.

Memorandum submitted A memorandum of request was
submitted by Madras High Court Advocates Association stating that the High Court of Madras has a sanctioned strength of 60 judges including Additional Judges. Control Board (TNPCB) has appealed to the people to celebrate Vinayaka Chathurthi without polluting the environment. A release by TNPCB chairman K. Skandan said the public were requested to immerse Vinayaka idols only in the officially designated spots. Only idols made of raw clay or any other eco-friendly material would be permitted for immersion. Idols painted with chemical materials would not be allowed.
