Kiwanis Club of Cheviot-Westwood Honored For Community Service
At its Board of Trustees meeting, Wesley Community Services recognized the Kiwanis
Club of Cheviot-Westwood for its support of services keeping seniors at home. Over the last 15
years, financial support, volunteers and efforts to involve high school Kiwanis Key Club
members in feeding Cincinnati’s seniors has been a commitment of the Club.
Although the Kiwanis Club of Cheviot-Westwood is most noted for its annual Harvest Home
Fair and its support of children and youth programs, Wesley Community Services has been the
recipient of funding to support its efforts to feed homebound seniors through its Meals on
Wheels initiative. In addition, in 2013 the Kiwanis Club has initiated volunteer service
opportunities for its 150-member club at Wesley Community Services. Two days a month,
Kiwanis members pack fruit, juice and desserts for Meals on Wheels clients. In 2014, the
Western Hills High School Key Club members, sponsored by the Kiwanis Club, began
volunteering at Wesley. The students come monthly and work in the Meals on Wheels program.
Tom Kaylor, Chairman of the Board of Trustees, Wesley Community Services, presented
a printed Resolution of the Board of Trustees, honoring the Kiwanis Club of Cheviot-Westwood.
“Wesley is pleased to recognize the contributions of our local Kiwanis Club to Wesley’s efforts
to fight hunger among Cincinnati seniors” Kaylor said. Mike Kahsar, President of the Kiwanis
Club accepted the Resolution for the Kiwanis Club. "Cheviot Westwood Kiwanis and the
Western Hills High School Key Club are honored to receive this recognition by Wesley
Community Services. We deeply appreciate the opportunity Wesley Community Services has
given us to serve our community by helping the Meals on Wheels Program.”
