• All hunters must have a valid North Carolina Hunting License and a valid Reserve Hunting permit. Valid permits must be carried on person while hunting and must be for the current season.

• Hunters are responsible for knowing and abiding by local and State hunting regulations and knowing Reserve boundaries.

• Refer to the attached map for weapon restrictions.

• Hunters please be aware of hikers.

• Where rifles are allowed, they MUST be discharged from a stand or a position 8 or more feet above the ground.

• You may NOT construct or use permanent blinds, tree stands, platforms or ladders. Tree stands should be removed from the Reserve after each day’s hunt. The Reserve will not be responsible for their loss or theft. No personal property may remain on the Reserve overnight.

• No BAITING is allowed on the Reserve.

• A fine up to $500 may apply for discharge of a firearm within 300 yards of any building. (Kitty Hawk Code of

Ordinances Sec. 18-6)

• NO ATVs, dirt bikes or motorized vehicles are allowed in the Reserve. This includes Covered Bridge Road.

• Access the Reserve at designated access points unless you have obtained permission from other property owners.

• All hunters are REQUIRED to report any successful taking of wildlife within the Reserve online. This is in addition to NC Wildlife Resources Commission reporting requirements.

• Please remember, hunting in Kitty Hawk Woods is a privilege. Your cooperation is appreciated.

For this permit to be valid, you must first submit a registration form, available through the Reserve’s website or at the Kitty Hawk office. You will then receive the “Hunter Registration Number” for your permit. Carry this permit with you at all times while hunting.
