1. Confident: We see his when he meets Soraya in the flea market, even though he was notsupposed to be talking to her. Although he isnt supposed to be talking to her. This is mainly

caused by his new environment with the social/cultural environment.

Collected: We see this when he moves to California, he seems as though he knows more of what he

wants to do in life and is not as scattered with his thoughts and is more focused on what he wants in lifewhich is publish books

Mature: In America when Baba gets sick he is the one to step up and support the flea market stall and

also he was the one who took control of Babas medication and took care of everything around the

house before he got married.

2. Stubborn: We see this when he refuses treatment for his Cancer, even though Amir pleadedwith him to get the treatment

Proud: In America he still stays true to his Afghan roots, with tradition when Amir asks for

Soyara hand in marriage he does it the traditional way. Also when he thinks that Amir can

handle himself he lets himself die, he way he wanted to go.

Disrespectful: We see this when he is offered the welfare, he disrespects he worker because he

doesnt want handouts.

3. We see a large change in the relationship between Baba and Amir. Baba is finally starting to beproud of Amir when they start their business out of the flea market. Amir is also not looking for

the acknowledgement of his father anymore. When Amir asked his far for him to get Soraya to

marry him, this brought them closer because this allowed Baba to relies he raised his son well.

When Baba dies it is because he has realized that his son no longer needs him to support him

that he is able to take care of himself.

4. Soraya:

Educated: Her father mentions several times in the section that a straight A student shouldnt become a

teacher.

Untraditional: She ran away from home back in Afghanistan. She also would have more of an American

set of value but they also contained many of the Afghan traditions and values.

General Taheri:

Arrogant: Even though he is not in his high ranking government position he still think that he should still

be treated the same way even though hes 3000 miles away.

Coward: He fled from the war in Afghanistan even though he the leader of the military that was

supposedly supposed to protect the people.The largest external conflict that Amir has is that of dealing

with his fathers cancer. The challenge that

5. Amirs biggest conflict is that with Baba. The challenge that he faces is that Baba doesnt wa ntany medication for is cancer. He wants to fight it on is own.

Amirs biggest internal conflict is that of having to deal with his fathers death and for the first

time he has to stand alone and fend for himself

7. Love and Tension Between Fathers and SonsWe see this between Amir and Baba in Part One of the story but we also see it in the 2nd part of the

story as well. In part One we see the tension between Baba and Amir with Amir thinking that his

father somehow holds him accountable for his mothers death and he has to redeem himself for it.

In the first part seeks redemption through the Kite tournament. In the second Part we see the Amir

has for Baba when theyre fleeing to Pakistan when Amir is trying to get Baba to sit back down. We

see the tensions relieve between Amir and Baba when Baba is dying of his cancer and Amir realizes

that his father is proud of him.
