I REMEMBER WHEN... by Maisie Turner

I wish I'd paid attentionWhen mother reminisced,

Now no-one's left to fill me inOn all the bits I missed.

There are many details missing,Facts I can't recall,

The Whens, Whys and WhereforesNow no-one knows at all.

When elders of the familyBegan, 'I Remember When...'I'd raise my eyes to Heaven

And think 'Here they go again!'

Oh! how I wished I'd listened,Now they've all gone to earth.

I've lost a chunk of historyFrom times before my birth.

Working Reminiscence

What’s your name?

Where did you grow up?

What was your first job?

What was your first wage?

A presentation by Kinross High School

5th Year pupils on their trip to the WW1

Battlefields in France led to a collaboration with 1st,

3rd, 4th & 5th year pupils -

Kinross High School ‘WW2 Memories’

Photojournalism Project with Living Communities

What happened next………….

Older people in the group have appreciated the support with technology from pupils and the young people, particularly the pupil volunteer, have remarked how ‘history has come to life’ for them through discussion and storytelling. The perceptions of all the generations involved have changed by working together, sharing knowledge and support from all ages.

Had a great session with High School pupils

regarding memories of WW2

Enjoyed company and conversation with the

young people – plenty to talk about!

Interviews a very pleasant experience.

Generations in our community came

together in an experience which was immensely rewarding for us all.

Brought memories from the past into today’s

world.

A fascinating afternoon with the reminiscence group - without them this project would not

have been possible.
