One of the world’s largest and most experienced providers of rainwater harvesting

systems, we have a proven track record spanning more than 10 years and a range of

solutions comprehensive enough to work within any roof area or application.

Our systems salvage rainwater for non-potable applications such as toilet-flushing,

manufacturing processes and cleaning. They are easy to install and run and

maintenance costs are low. The volumes are significant enough to make radical

savings in most types and sizes of building, from law courts to prisons, airports and

hospitals, hotels to swimming pools, sports complexes and shopping centres, as well

as farms and factories where it can be used for irrigation and washdowns.

A combination of low water usage and harvesting enables these buildings to use less

water and to minimise pressure on the water mains, reducing running costs.

We can design and install a rainwater harvesting system to capture the rain that falls on most building types. We offer above and below ground solutions that can be integrated into new buildings or retro-fitted to existing ones. Both provide highly effective, reliable and easy-to-use systems with significant savings in water usage and cost.

ENVIREAU – BELOW GROUNDOur Envireau solution is an excellent choice for new domestic or commercial buildings. There are two options; the gravity system, which uses an elevated header tank to store filtered water, and the direct system, which pumps water from the main storage tank. Both can be tailored to individual buildings and water applications. We carefully size and select tanks, anything from 1,200–80,000 litres, according to roof water yield and projected water consumption. We match filters, pumps and control panels based on optimum system requirements.

RAINSTORE – ABOVE GROUNDIdeal for retro-fitting to existing domestic or commercial buildings, above-ground tanks provide the quickest and simplest facility for storing harvested rainwater. Free-standing and available in volumes from 100 – 10,000 litres, they don’t require specialist installation and are manufactured from tough roto-moulded plastic. For larger volumes of water, we can connect multiple tanks and there is a choice of standard systems through to fully integrated solutions.

The UK’s Department of Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) sought the highest BREEAM rating for its new office in Northumberland. We worked to meet the water consumption requirements of 100 employees. Our Envireau system features a pre-tank filtration system, 12,000 litre underground storage tank, electronic control and pump, which together ensure that all toilet flushing water is harvested rainwater. As well as saving water and money, mains water consumption is minimal and the system will pay for itself within four years.

The new £50 million library at Queen’s University, Belfast, is not only a world-class educational resource for 2,000 students but also a beacon of sustainable construction. Buildings of this type have a very intensive use of water and the objective was to design a water recovery system that would deliver maximum water volume for its day-to-day running. Credited as one of the building’s most interesting features, our Envireau solution transforms the way water is consumed so that the library uses less water, produces less waste, and cuts running costs.

In Northern Spain, a village relied on a traditional treatment facility comprising of an underground filtration and clarification process. The system was failing, achieving only 70% treatment efficiency and creating environmental problems such as ground pollution and odours. The village committee chose to install a Klargester BioDisc packaged treatment plant with unique managed flow system to allow for seasonal variations and flows, improving efficiency and eradicating environmental problems.

Award-winning chef and restaurateur, Rick Stein, needed an environmentally-friendly, off-mains drainage system suitable for his popular pub and busy working kitchen at The Cornish Arms in Cornwall, UK. The original septic tank, in situ for over 20 years, was struggling to cope with the demands of the business. The new system had to be efficient with low maintenance and running costs. Their builders recommended our industry-leading treatment plant with grease separator which is specially designed to deal with the high level of usage at commercial premises.

A major project to build 35 care homes throughout the UK over a two-year period required the installation of Kingspan Solar thermal panels and Kingspan Hot Water Systems. Each installation called for two 400 litre Sterling stainless steel pre-heat solar cylinders and one 400 litre indirect stainless steel cylinder to be used to quickly and efficiently transfer hot water generated by solar energy to provide a ready supply of hot water regardless of outdoor temperature. With their large capacity, stainless steel construction and superb insulation, the Stirling cylinders are ideal for large-scale projects. These first installations, supplying 82 ensuites, will contribute 16.71MWh to the care homes’ hot water every year and cut carbon emissions by 3,242kg.

The Manchester Methodist Housing Association’s multi-million pound refurbishment project involved upgrading over 300 Sheffield homes. The design limitations of the old housing meant they had insufficient space for standard unvented cylinders. Our Range Tribune HE family of Duplex stainless steel unvented cylinders includes a slimline model compact enough to fit the available cupboard size. We specified 300 180-litre Tribune Slimline Indirect cylinders to deliver mains pressure hot water with high flow rates and fast reheat permitting the use of modern showers and aerated mixer taps.

As part of a £105,000 investment to help eradicate fuel poverty among residents on the island of Westray, Orkney, energy cooperative Care4Energy has installed five high yield KW6 wind turbines. They are designed to produce more than 85,000kWh of renewable energy a year which is being fed back into the grid to generate a new income stream. The turbines are creating a net annual income of £25,000, which is directly helping the fuel-poor on the island, funding energy-saving and renewable energy measures.

With over 120 turbines, our Falkland Island’s installations are pioneering in every sense of the word. The islands rural settlements are totally off the grid and, until the installation of our KW3 turbines, were totally reliant on diesel generators, which are expensive to operate and maintain, especially in the more remote locations. First installed in 1995, our South Atlantic fleet is regarded as the world’s largest off-grid small scale wind turbine fleet and provides 24-hour power to over 85% of the island’s farms and rural dwellings.

The Aeromax Plus family of heat pumps is designed to create carbon and cost savings for both

domestic and commercial/industrial clients. It offers a broad spread of outputs (4kW–105kW)

to match the exact needs of these different applications and has the power to supply

heating and hot water to large scale buildings.

How does it work? The heat pump collects and utilises thermal energy from the air outside,

even when the temperature is as low as -20°C. It uses a small amount of energy to do this,

1kW of electricity for every 4kW of heat produced. The heat generated can be used to warm

water for radiators, underfloor heating systems or to provide domestic hot water in a home.

KINGSPAN HEAT PUMP PRODUCTS

The Aeromax Plus Air Source Heat Pump uses the latest technology to optimise its performance, creating greater efficiencies, lower running costs and a longer lifespan. Furthermore, it is one of the smallest, lightest and quietest units available on the market today, and with one of the widest operation capacities, it is ideal for a wide variety of applications and spaces. To create the ultimate renewable solution, our heat pumps can be integrated with our hot water cylinders and Solar package.

DOMESTIC APPLICATIONSOur heat pumps can be incorporated into monovalent or bivalent heating systems in new or existing homes, providing hot water and space heating via radiators or underfloor systems. In a monovalent system, the heat pump is the sole source of heat. We size it to provide 100% of the hot water and heating, even on the coldest day of the year. In a bivalent system, heating is supplied by two different heat sources. Our pumps integrate seamlessly with other traditional heat sources, such as gas boilers as well as solar thermal applications, if a back-up or additional heat source is required.

COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONSOur heat pumps are also specifically designed to heat commercial buildings, such as offices, apartments, hotels, gyms and spas, as well as to provide hot water for light process applications, such as cleaning and washroom areas. They incorporate a hydronic module with a multi-speed pump, as standard, and we also offer an optional hydronic module with a variable-speed pump, that automatically adapts to the system requirements. Intelligent unit control allows the pump to work in extreme conditions, minimising shut-down times and providing a continuous supply of 65°C water.

We were able to propose an efficient system which would not only reduce their energy bills but their CO

2 emissions, too. We

installed four 15kW Aeromax Plus air source heat pumps to boost both the house, water and swimming pool heating systems, saving on running costs as well as lowering environmental impact.

When a new hotel was built on the banks of Loch Long in Scotland, its owners had a clear vision for the heating and running of the building - underfloor heating. They saw this as the most efficient system for their property, one which would substantially reduce its annual running cost as well as its CO

2

emissions. Their challenge was how to do this. Together with their developers they chose the 75kW Aeromax Plus commercial unit as a product that would not only meet the requirements of the new building to use renewable energy sources but would also heat the building in the most cost-effective way.

Our environmental containers are an important part of the totally integrated solution – providing innovative, reliable and environmentally responsible storage solutions for a diverse selection of clients, sectors and applications.

OIL AND FUEL STORAGE TANKS EcoSafe is one of the world’s most advanced range of bunded oil tanks for domestic and commercial installations. Designed to store kerosene for central heating oil, it has long been the industry’s brand of choice, trusted for its strength, reliability and quality. In fact, EcoSafe was the first environmentally responsible, bunded tank available on the European market and Kingspan helped set industry legislation. For agricultural and commercial applications, our fully-bunded FuelMaster has an integral pump and nozzle, housed in a lockable cabinet for security, while the TruckMaster is a portable fuel-dispensing version.

TITAN EXCEL CUSTOM MOULDINGTitanExcel is our custom moulding business. We design and manufacture a wide range of technical custom moulded parts including, fuel, hydraulic, urea/ Adblue and expansion tank assemblies, dashboards, vehicle internals, fenders, tool boxes and water tanks for industrial and commercial machines. John Deere, the leading supplier of tractors and agricultural machinery, has installed two Titan FuelMaster 5,000 litre tanks at its head office in Nottingham. Both are bunded (a tank within a tank). The move was prompted by the industry shift from red to ultra-low sulphur diesel which is better suited to the modern tractor engine. Its existing tanks were old and corroded by sediment while the plastic in our Titan tanks doesn’t react with diesel components, preventing the build-up of sludge and residue. Fully compliant and set up, they just need connecting to the electrical supply.

One of the UK’s most respected newspaper groups, Scotsman Publications Limited, recently upgraded the fuel management system in its Edinburgh depot. With a fleet of 30 vehicles, the depot delivers to the city, Fife and West Lothian areas. Increasing fuel prices made it crucial to account for all fuel, to minimise wastage and ensure fuel security. We installed our 10,000 litre Titan FuelMaster tank and Cube Management System. The sheer size of the tank reduced the need for fuel cards, minimising paperwork and time while the management system allows each journey to be costed and fuel usage tracked.

Sensor enables users to monitor, manage and measure remote stock across the globe.

CONNECT SENSORConnect Sensor is our central, secured database, which communicates with our remote transmitters and allows you to choose how you access your data; PC, web, cloud, SMS, apps, email or ERP (platform connection support). It allows traceability and management, prevents fuel running out, allows you to measure consumption rates, facilitates fuel procurement, and bespoke reporting and integration. Connect Sensor will deliver the data in litres (per day/week/month) and percentages, which can be used to calculate energy consumption. Importantly, it provides manipulation of data and reports tailored to your business.

WATCHMAN SONIC AND ALARMThe Watchman Sonic and Alarm are easy-to-install DIY ultrasonic oil level monitors. They measure the level of heating oil in your tank then transmit the information to a receiver in your building so you can monitor the oil level from the comfort of your home or office. The Watchman Alarm additionally emits an audible alarm alert when there is a dramatic drop in oil levels.

THERMOMAX REFRIGERATIONA product of Kingspan Sensor, our Thermomax range of control and data logging systems for temperature and refrigeration management is unique in the market. Featuring revolutionary new technology, information from the fridge can be accessed and downloaded remotely via the internet. The Thermomax Control and Data Logger, the THX-CDL, offers advanced refrigeration control functionality. All coldroom parameters can be adjusted remotely or locally. The THX range is also fully compatible with existing Thermomax sensors.

We’ve developed an innovative heating oil management technology to trial pay-as-you-go for oil; a world first. It’s a simple process. Homeowners buy the oil they want and Fuelserv releases it from their tank. A small wall-mounted monitor inside the home tells customers how much they’ve used and spent, allowing them to keep track, budget and control usage. It will also test built-in anti-theft alerts and alarms.

Masterlink Logistics was keen to tackle high fuel costs by replacing fuel cards for drivers with a bulk fuel storage tank on their new site. They wanted a smarter, more economical system so they could analyse energy use and improve efficiency across their 12-vehicle fleet. Masterlink chose a bunded tank with an internal pump house and a fuel management system linked to their internal computer. Now they can accurately calculate cost per mile, per vehicle and per driver, making it easier to control and assess costs. The system will have paid for itself within nine months.

When the National Trust in Northern Ireland hit a problem on site, they called us. With one of our expert engineers quickly on the ground, we rapidly identified the exact make and model of the two plants. We provided operation and maintenance manuals for both, along with de-sludging guidelines, a detailed report featuring photographs of the plant and a proposal for remedial work. With the proposal accepted, the work was successfully carried out and the system up and running so that the Trust could get back on track with their own work.

After auditing its sites throughout the UK, we presented the board of Cats Protection with a series of recommendations for remedial work, cost-saving improvements to pump stations (guide rails, telemetry and twin pumps) and an ongoing maintenance schedule, including sampling and tankering. We also suggested a GSM telemetry early warning system or alarm to give advance warning of any potential failure. This would allow us to take preventative action rather than dealing with a full-blown problem, minimising disruption and cost. Given that many of the sites were remote and unstaffed outside business hours, this represented a great benefit to the organisation.
