FROM THE PASTORGreetings,
I am happy to announce a parish mission on Monday, January 30 through Thursday, February 2. The mission will be conducted by Sister Briege McKenna and Reverend Kevin Scallon.
Sister Briege is a member of the Sisters of St. Clare and Father Kevin is a priest of the Vincentian Community. They have been conducting missions and retreats for over 30 years. Sister Briege has gained worldwide recognition as a result of all her missions and retreats, but particularly for her healing ministry. Having experienced the healing power of God in her own life, the theme of God’s healing in our lives
characterizes her missions and retreats. Sister Briege also wrote the book Miracles Do Happen.
We are blessed to have this opportunity for God’s grace in our parish. I encourage you to mark your calendars and make plans to join us for this special event.

Our New Parochial Vicar, Fr. Dan GoodMy parents, originally from Montana, moved to Chicago where I was born. We moved to Mobile when I was twelve years old after my father had retired. They told me that they wanted to get away from the snow! I went to Corpus Christi and then McGill-Toolen.
After high school, I moved to New York to discern becoming a Capuchin Franciscan Friar. After a year of discernment, I felt the call to the diocesan priesthood. I wrote to Archbishop Lipscomb who wrote back immediately, “Welcome home my prodigal son.” The Archbishop sent me to Saint Joseph Seminary College in Covington, Louisiana where I earned a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy and Liberal Arts. He then sent me to Saint Charles Seminary in Philadelphia where I earned a Masters of Divinity and a Masters of Arts in moral
of embryo adoption.
Archbishop Rodi ordained me to the priesthood in 2010. I was assigned to Saint Mary’s in Mobile. The following year I was assigned as the Chaplain at McGill-Toolen. I moved from Saint Mary’s to the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in 2014, while still remaining chaplain at McGill-Toolen. Throughout this time Archbishop asked me to attend the Catholic University of America to get my Canon Law degree, which I just completed. At the end of June Archbishop asked me to come to Christ the King. I have thoroughly enjoyed being here!
I have been involved in many different ministries, such as: The Theology of the Body Institute, Rachael’s Vineyard Retreats, The Men of Saint Joseph, The MOSJ Outback, various bible studies, and many retreats. My favorite place to visit is the Holy Land. I

AROUND THE PARISHBLESSED SEELOS GROUP CELEBRATES FEAST DAYThe Blessed Seelos Prayer Group celebrated Blessed Seelos' Feast Day with a Mass on Sunday, October 2 at 5 PM. Father Dan Good was the celebrant and gave an explanation of the Blessed Seelos Mass Reliquary and how to venerate it. He gave the young people a little background of Blessed Seelos and encouraged them to visit the Shrine in New Orleans. One of CTK's youth, Joshua Park, visited the Shrine during his Spring Break last year. He is pictured sitting with Father Seelos on the bench in the back of the Shrine's church, St. Mary of the Assumption (right). Charlie Schmidt is seen with his parents, Charles and Janna Schmidt and baby sister Cecilia "CeCe" at this year's Feast Day Mass. Charlie was venerating Seelos Reliquary after the October 2 Mass (below).

SILVER SAINTSThe Silver Saints is going into their 4th year as a Parish ministry. It has been a great 3 years with many hours of fun and fellowship. This quarter we have had many events with great participation. We have gone to several movies including "Apparition Hill", the play "Thoroughly Modern Millie", bowling, out to eat at local restaurants, and a tour on the Gulf Coast Ducks
Daphne Civic Center. We meet monthly and have just had a fantastic turn out for our Thanksgiving Dinner in November and are preparing for our Christmas party on December 11th. We will also be going to the Mobile Mystery Dinner Theater this month. We have lots of fun and enjoy traveling around and socializing with other adults where we share our faith, interests and bond with each other and learn about our local community. If you are interested in checking us out, call Jacque Odom at 251-626-2932 for further info.

Commentary – Pope Francis, a man, is well versed in man. A man, called at an early age to be a “man of God.” He is aware of the frailties of man and he is aware that regardless of these frailties, God is ever calling him to himself. Pope Francis is reaching out to all mankind, evangelizing those within and without the Church. Beginning with and highlighting a “year of mercy,” Pope Francis shows the warmth of his being, reaching out from the Rock to those whose lives are on the rocks, those who have left the Church or because the Church has left them. For those who have failed in following the doctrines of the Church he wants the Church to put its arms around them. No, he is not changing Church doctrine, he is remembering the dignity, the God given dignity of each person and knowing the obligation of bringing and / or restoring each person to the Church. Many have married outside the Church, God has not stopped loving them, the Church cannot write them off, it must listen to them and draw them back with great love. The Father does not abandon his children, through his Church he lightens the load that his children are carrying. This simple, humble man is leading that Church.

Jesuit pope? How does he see the world and his ministry? How does he understand his call to serve Christ, his Church, and the world? In short, what is the mind and heart of this new pope of a new world?—of the Americas and the rest of the world of the
before his election---the most highly regarded Vatican observer on the international scene reveals the personality of this man of God, gentle and humble. The son of Italian immigrants to Argentina, he made radically following Christ and the way of non-violence the pillars of his pastoral ministry in a country continually tormented by social and economic inequities. This complete biography offers the keys to understanding the man who was a surprise choice, even a kind of revolutionary choice, for pope. It is the story of the humble pastor of one of the world’s largest archdioceses; a cardinal who takes the bus, talks with common folk, and lives simply. It is a story of why the cardinal electors of the Catholic Church set aside political and
The St. Vincent DePaul society will be helping families this Christmas with a food box for those in need. We need the help of parishioners to sponsor a family by supplying a food box. There will be a flyer in the church bulletin with more information. We also thank the many parishioners for their
continued support in serving the poor.

"A Catechist is faith, hope, and love attached to arms, legs, aches and pains, family duties and not enough time.
A Catechist is an ordinary person who is extraordinary because he or she teaches as Jesus did.
A Catechist is faithful to the past, open to the future, but especially dedicated to deepening the faith of the present generation."
