What started as a home fellowship of a few is now the home church for over 10,000

people. In 2002, he left Oregon to assist Pastor Chuck Smith at the 25,000-member Calvary Chapel

in Costa Mesa, California. Courson has amassed more than 1,500 teachings in an expositional

style. Jon Courson's Application Commentary will combine a verse-by-verse teaching of every

paragraph of Scripture with practical topical studies throughout. This New Testament commentary

is a unique blend of information and inspiration presented in a way unique to Jon Courson. With

more than 1,200 Calvary Chapels in the U.S. and 2,500 worldwide, Jon Courson delivers with fresh,

new insights into the Bible.

Hardcover: 1824 pages

Publisher: Thomas Nelson; 1st Edition, 1st Printing edition (January 17, 2004)

Language: English

ISBN-10: 0785251553

ISBN-13: 978-0785251552

Product Dimensions: 6.7 x 1.8 x 9.5 inches

Shipping Weight: 3.3 pounds (View shipping rates and policies)

Average Customer Review: 4.9 out of 5 starsSee all reviews(179 customer reviews)

Best Sellers Rank: #99,530 in Books (See Top 100 in Books) #178 inBooks > Christian Books &

Bibles > Bible Study & Reference > Commentaries > New Testament #595 inBooks > Christian

Books & Bibles > Bible Study & Reference > New Testament #24080 inBooks > Religion &

Spirituality

I was a church pew baby - born in one and remained throughout much of my life. Nothing and no

one has opened my eyes to the truths in the Word like Pastor Jon Courson has done in this

commentary. He speaks truths in todays language meeting todays needs. I have bought this

commentary for anyone who will take one (and even some who would'nt). I have watched lives

transformed from fence walkers to true followers of Jesus through the diligent reading of this

commentary. The scripture is in King James (my favorite) - and the commentary on it makes you not

even realize you are reading King James. For me, it is less of a commentary that I would go to to

look for understanding of specific verses - as it is a read through Bible. Many times I have read the

Bible with little understanding. This commentary has opened my eyes, heart and soul through Jon's

obvious God given gift used for HIS GLORY - to bring a greater awareness of GOD's Word to my

life. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT. I do not have alot of money - but when I find someone whom I can

share this with - I find the money in the budget for another one.

Jon Courson combines scholarly analysis with a broad and deep knowledge of Old Testament

Types and Symbolism to breathe a new vitality into the New Testament Good News. The common

theme is the Gospel of Grace, whereby Christians respond to Jesus' sacrificial love on the cross by

inviting Him into their hearts and letting Him finish the work by changing them from the inside out.

His self-deprecating and personal style is not only humorous and readable but also timely and

pertinent to the struggles we face in our lives. I highly recommend this commentary for those

Christians who are striving for maturity in their Christian walk.

I just love this book. I am thinking about buying a ton of them for Christmas gifts. This book is a

great commentary on the New Testament. It has taught me so much, sometimes by pointing out the

meanings of the original Greek words, and other time by just bringing things into focus. I am not a

long time student of the Bible and reading the Bible alone I have often felt confused or lost. John

Courson has really enabled me to focus and thoughtfully consider it as I read. Thank you, John

Courson. You have helped make my quiet time a joy rather than a chore!

I not only have a hard copy of Courson's commentary but bought it for my Kindle so I could always

have it at hand. Some Commentaries are drawn out and hard to understand. Jon wrote easy to

understand comments so anyone could say "I got it." I have 2 other commentaries and get bogged

down with all the big words and long explanations. Jon's commentary is for people who do not have

a PHD in Divinity. I can hardly wait for his OT to be available for my Kindle. Why did I buy Courson's

Commentary? I have listened to his sermons on radio for years and enjoyed his teachings. I had

faith that his commentary would be good.

I enjoy Jon's style of writing. I sat under his teaching both at church and the radio ministry, and he

always keeps you focused on Jesus. He uses numerous examples, both from text and personal

experiences, to help clarify and understand certain passages. He articulates well and expresses a

solid command of the English language. He knows the Word and sheds much light throughout the

book. I do use it as my daily devotional, and have for many years, as well as a study resource for

class. I would definitely recommend this commentary and have, for daily reading, or for an additional

study resource.

I use-to teach ... and this study guide is by far the best compilation (3 volumes) I've read and used.

Anyone attempting to understand the Bible for what ever the reason will surely find the

commentaries useful and accurate. The simplicity of the vernacular is impeccable. I have all three

volumes which is an excellent addition to my library. I have painstakingly crossed reference and

tested the comments ... they all came back five by five.

Jon Courson is a great Bible teacher who I have been listening to for 20 years on the radio. He also

is about my age and he is disarmingly open and honest and has a great laugh...he has had great

losses in his life that he has overcome.I've found all three of these books very helpful and brought

me closer to the Lord as I correctly understood different passages. "Study to show thyself approved

unto God, a workman that need not be afraid, rightly dividing the word of truth."...can't remember the

reference.

Such an awesome bible to commit time with God our Lord Jesus Christ and have His holy spirit

empower, correct, lift up, encourage, and teach you through.
