My Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

As the 2020 Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal (CMAA) draws to a close, I want to first thank you for being kind and merciful to so many throughout our diocese during this difficult time.

Your support of the CMAA allowed the diocese to provide comfort to families and individuals in great need due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Because of your gifts, our team of dedicated diocesan staff members also found new and innovative ways to spread the Gospel message, ensuring the faithful of our diocese are not spiritually distancing as they socially distance.

I have been overwhelmed by the incredible stories of generosity in our community. I realize that many among us have had to be more intentional with their sacrificial giving because of their personal circumstances. It brings me much joy as the new Bishop of Joliet to see us supporting one another during these difficult times.

I am especially inspired by the individual parish results for the 2020 CMAA in this closing report. I hope you will be similarly encouraged, and as confident as I am in the continued success of the CMAA.

Let us pray that all those affected by the pandemic know the kindness and mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ. May you and your family have a peaceful and joyous Advent season.

Peace,

Most Reverend Ronald A. HicksBishop of Joliet

Dear Friends,

Thank you for your support of the 2020 Catholic Ministries Annual Appeal (CMAA), and for entrusting the Diocese of Joliet with your contributions.

The coronavirus pandemic has proven just how important it is for us to unite as a Church to help those in need. Because we joined together in support of the CMAA, the diocese has been able to meet an unprecedented demand for our ministries this year. Every gift, large and small, allowed us to extend the kindness and mercy of Christ and make a significant difference in our community.

On top of meeting those extra needs this year, CMAA gifts were directed to 30 ministries that teach the faith in our Catholic schools and parishes; help men discern the diocesan priesthood and receive formation; serve the most vulnerable among us through programs and services of Catholic Charities; and accomplish so much more. The impact of your gift extends far and wide — it would be nearly impossible to count every person whose life has been affected!

As chief financial officer, I can attest that diocesan staff members take very seriously the stewardship of the dollars entrusted to us. We realize many have experienced economic hardships due to the pandemic, and that sharing these blessings required true sacrifice. Please know how much your generosity is appreciated.

I pray that you and your family have a healthy and blessed Advent and Christmas season.

With sincere gratitude,

Brian SchroederChief Financial Officer
