DESCRIPTION

ORIGIN Why “Kimera” “Kimera” is the translation of “Chimera” from English to Tagalog (Filipino) the national language of my mom’s side of the family. Quick Description The “Kimera” will have a few similarities to the traditional “Chimera” legend. It will be a three headed monster with wings. However this variant will have some unique requirements: the three heads will be based on the Black Bear, the American Alligator, and the Philippine Eagle. The body should be mammalian (I am leaning towards the typical lion/tiger style body), the wings should be like an eagle, and I am completely undecided on (or even if) it should have a tail.

PURPOSE Identify basic components of “Kimera” design and

premise for artist to effectively envision and illustrate the animal. (Artist Selected: TJ Wright)

“Kimera” will also feature prominently on my personal Coat of Arms. (Commission may be given to another artist)

May require one more intermediate piece of art to create “Kimera” in classic supporter configuration for a Coat of Arms. (Commission may be given to another artist)

BODY TYPEExamples of body type and design I like.Banebeasts ChimeraThis model is what actually made me decide Chimera above other possibilities.Link has concept art.Heads can be offset if necessary.

BODY TYPE (CONT.)I love Games Workshop’s older griffon artwork however I hate their new oversized talons. These talons however look to be the right size.Sandara Tang

THREE HEADSALLIGATOR (FANTASY)Although the alligator is included in the design because it is for specific symbolism (discussed later).

Feel free to do random awesome stuff like add bone crests, exterior teeth and anything that looks cool. Link

Its an mythological creature so don’t feel confined by natural images or artwork.

THREE HEADSBLACK BEAR (NATURAL)

The top left image here has a pretty good example of the coloration and general structure of the Black Bear’s head.

I couldn’t find any extensive aggressive pictures of the Black Bear so I have included a Grizzly Bear so you could get an idea of the teeth/canine position.

THREE HEADSBLACK BEAR (FANTASY)

I love the overdone teeth on these guys. Even the epic exterior teeth on the right dire bear.

However I HATE the funky long fingernail paws.

THREE HEADSPHILIPPINE EAGLE

So yeah, this animal is badass.

THREE HEADSPHILIPPINE EAGLE

I think having the head feathers a little ruffled looks a little more iconic than matted down, however here are some images for reference. I’ll leave it up to artist discretion weather you go with the more “sleek” or “ruffled” look.

WINGSI prefer griffon style wings to bat-like wings.

I love the coloration on this “Philippine Serpent Eagle” however its just a suggestion, overall coloration may dictate how the wings are colored to make a cohesive piece.

TAIL & BACKGROUNDEntirely at artist discretion. I would prefer it not to use another animal (such as a scorpion tail) but honestly anything that looks good I’ll probably be okay with.

My friends suggested possibly an alligator tail, but it may be too big/non-proportionate for the creature.

Completely undecided on the background. Something like a small observer (human) would be cool kind of like in “Release the Kraken” however I’ll leave all that to artist discretion.

REQUIREMENTSI would like a copy of the final PSD.Image must be at least HD 1920x1080 (can be bigger if you want). If you want to make drastic changes in direction or design go by the saying . . .“It’s always better to ask forgiveness rather than permission.”

If you think any of the aforementioned info is dumb, stupid, or entirely too limiting; simply disregard – since you’re the artist its pretty much your show now.

SYMBOLISMBackground info just for your reference. The Philippine Eagle head symbolizes my mom’s side of the family.

The eagle is the national animal of the Philippines. The Black Bear symbolizes my step-father’s family. It represents

the North Carolina mountain background that this part of the family comes from. (I thought about changing this to the bobcat, however the Sports team in Charlotte has sullied its name and gray squirrel as animal won’t cut it).

The Alligator is for my father’s side of the family (he died in 1989) and is the state reptile for Mississippi (my birthplace).

Motto for heraldry will be nihil ex omnia et omnia ex nihil which means nothing of everything and everything of nothing.
