Welcome to the 24th issue o Kimberley Chronicle. We are happy to announce that we have achiev

over a thousad reads online, and thats without a website! Check out our Facebook Page, the webswill likely be a while. While we try to stay politically neutral here at the Chronicle, wed like to plucause that we think would be cool. We dont know most o the technical or nancial details, and wenot even hard-core paddlers; we just think that i its possible, lets make Mark Creek a sweet spothang out. Since this is a paper written in a basement in Marysville and we dont need to advertcondos to Albertans (Happy Family Day Alberta by the way) we can say whatever we want.

Mark Creek has likelyooded every severalyears or the last 10,000years. It wasnt untilolks started to buildhouses along the bankso the Creek that it be-came a problem. Terst noted ood was in

1898, another one hitin 1916. However itwasnt until 1948 thatthere was much to dam-age (see picture). In1950 the rst ume wasbuilt, however high wa-ter in 1956 damaged theume.

It was straightened and rebuiltin 1956. 56 years later the con-crete was removed which leavesus at now. A group o whitewa-ter enthusiasts that have beenaround since 2009 (www.koote-nayriverlie.ca) have put orwarda Whitewater Park Proposal orthe section o Mark Creek where

    the ume once was. (continued)
