KIMBALL CEMETERY

We started this project with this cemetery as it is probably the burial place of ASA ZANE and his wife, ELIZABETH WHITTAKER. They were married in Belmont Co., Ohio on Mar. 30, 1802, and came to Liberty Township, Porter Co., Indiana about 1835. Asa Zane was 55 years old at that time. IRA BIGGS, son-in-law of Asa Zane also came at this time. Biggs died in 1867/68. we did not find any stones for either Asa Zane or Ira Biggs, but there was a broken one on the Biggs lot which could be for Ira. The children of Asa and Elizabeth (Whittaker) Zane were: Isaac Zane - married Isabelle Scott (returned to Ohio) Sydney Zane - married Charles Robbins Jonathan Zane Hannah Zane - Married George Herring

In order to present as much information as possible on this cemetery, which is situated in Section 34, Township, Range 6 on Stone Road in Liberty Township, Porter Co., Indiana, we have copied the tombstone inscriptions, added the names of the lot owners, according to the plat map compiled from plats made in 1898 by A.V. Boyce, and also given the names on the receipt book for lot payment. For the benefit of any reader who may be interested in the Biggs-Zane line, Mrs. Juanita Biggs Deiner of R.R. # 2 Hobart\, Indiana 46342, is a member of this family.
