Christmas is coming. So much crocheting to do. Anybody else panicking? Deep breaths, people. We still have time.

I made these mini stockings as little gifts for family and friends last year, and even thoughthere are quite a few patterns for this type of project floating around the internet, I thought itwouldn't hurt to share mine.

The great thing about mini stockings is you can use them for different things. You can use them as gift tags.

Attach a loop of yarn to the cuffs to make them into Christmas tree ornaments,

Or make them into fridge magnets. (For more details on how to attach magnets to yourstockings, scroll down past the pattern.)

Have I left anything out?

They're fun and quick to make so why not give them a go.

Goofy Mini Stockings

Size7cm/2 ¾in long

Skill LevelEasy to moderate.

Note on yarn and hook sizeI crochet with a light worsted (DK) weight yarn. You can use a slightly heavier or lighter yarnas long as you use the same type of yarn for the different colours. This will ensure your toy isin proportion. Use a hook size that will give you a nice firm stitch. The 3.00mm is my favouritehook.

Attach to the stocking. You can just add one eye or three. Whatever takes your fancy.

Felt FeaturesIf you want to add some eyebrows, cut some strips from black felt and attach above the eyesuse a needle and thread or glue. Create other features from felt - a moustache, a tongue, biglips, whatever wacky features you can think of. Attach using needle and thread or glue.

Eyelid (in colour matching stocking)If you'd like to make a one-eyed stocking like the green one in my photos, you may wish toadd an eyelid over the eye. The eyelid is very easy to make. Make a chain a little wider thanthe eye. Sc in 2nd chain from the hook, then sc in each chain to the end. Cut yarn and fastenoff, leaving a tail of yarn. Curve this strip over the eye and attach to the stocking using the tailof yarn, stitching around the sides and top edge of the strip.

Make Your Mini Stockings into Fridge MagnetsYou'll need a hot glue gun, some of those thin promotional magnets you can get in the mail, scissors and, of course, your mini stocking.

Cut out a rectangle from the magnet that will fit along the back of the stocking cuff. Cut outanother larger rectangle to cover the back of the body of the stocking. The larger therectangles, the better your stockings will stick to the fridge.

Attach the magnets to the back of the stocking with hot melt glue.

After the glue has cooled down and set, your magnets will be ready to go.

Hope you had fun with this one.
