KILVE Yanghuan Hu
SURFACE DESIGN My brief is to create a fashion surface pattern piece for Alexander
McQueen’s upcoming S/S collection.
My pattern piece is based on the form and structure in nature and is inspired by the trip to Kilve.
ARTWORK FROM KILVE
These are some of the pieces I drew whilst I was at Kilve. I used variety of media including ink & bleach, watercolour and fine liner.
PROTOTYPE 1
This pattern design combines the trees in the woodland and pebbles at the beach. This prototype creates a scenery to represent Kilve.
Work by Lesley Richmond
From researching into Lesley Richmond, I then wanted to create my own surface pattern in her style and try to create that texture look as well as bring out the nature itself.
The embroidery work was based on the observational drawings I done on the trip.
Over layered with P.V.C which makes this piece waterproof.
This prototype is inspired by pebbles at the Kilve beach.
For this prototype I decided to look at a different textile designer. These are some examples of work by Marit Fujiwara.
I like how the designer creates the textured surface by layering and combining materials.
PROTOTYPE 2
PROTOTYPE 3 My third prototype will be a laser cut pattern piece which could be used
anywhere on a garment.
