Kilshannig GAA Club recently held their Victory Social in Springfort Hall Hotel, Mallow to celebrate the achievements of 2014. It was a hugely successful year for the club claiming the North Cork Junior A, Junior B and U21 B Football Championships and the Minor A Football League. Medals were presented to each team while the selectors of each team were honoured for their excellent work throughout the year. Killian O'Hanlon was presented with the Billy Kingston Memorial Shield for player of the year award for his excellent performances. Killian was a key member of the victorious Junior A and U21 teams while he also played a major role in helping the Cork U21 Footballers claim the Munster Football title. Our U14 and U15 hurlers secured North Cork Championships while our Minor A footballers won the league. Our Under 10s continued the good record of our club by winning the Brian Cronin U10 Football tournament in Dromtarriffe. Huge work is continually being done for our young players and all involved are to be highly commended. However, we need more help if we are to cope with our numbers and any help is more than welcome. We would appeal in particular to former players to give a few hours a week. Please contact any club officer or team manager if you are interested. We would also ask parents to help out at games and training, with water or first aid duties. As the development of our new pitch continues, there will be occasions when volunteers will be needed, with the fencing of our grounds a priority. We look forward to your support in this area. We would also ask people to keep our facilities and our roadside tidy and free of rubbish. Huge work has been carried out by the Kilshannig Community Centre, Glantane Community Council and Kilshannig Pitch n Putt. By all working together, we can ensure our area has Thomas Russells Juvenile Club facilities of which we can all be proud, while providing top class facilities for young and old. The players, parents, coaching teams and

committee celebrated a great footballing year

at the recent Kilshannig Ladies Victory Social in

the Hibernian Hotel, Mallow. The evening

included awarding the prizes of the Kilshannig

Ladies Raffle, medal and trophy presentations

and a disco. Thank you to all who donated

prizes for the Raffle, especially Hibernian Hotel

who donated Couple Membership to the Pool

and Leisure Centre as the top prize. All funds

raised by the raffle have been allocated to the

purchase of match jerseys for the players.

Medals were presented to the U12s for their

North Cork Win and for being County Runners

Up, the U14s for their North Cork Win, the

U16s for their Nonexam League Final Win and

the Minors for their North Cork Win. The

medals were presented by special guest Cork

Senior Ladies Footballer Geraldine O’Flynn,

who also received a special award in

recognition of her outstanding contribution to

Ladies Football.

Special presentations were made to eight

players who represented Cork in the Munster

Blitz: Lucy McMahon, Mairead O’Sullivan,

Louise Mullane, Aishling Sheehan, Aisling Healy,

Emily O’Callaghan, Jessica Barrett and Aoife

Barrow.
