Safety in the Home Economics room
A Law called the ‘Health and Safety at Work Act’ requires your teacher to make and enforce rules to keep you safe while you are in the Home Economics room.
The Home Economics room
This room is different from other classrooms because we use dangerous equipment, we also use electrical appliances and we work with gas and all of these are potential dangers, so extreme care must be taken at all times. Your teacher will explain the rules for your particular room. Pupils must wear appropriate protective clothing and shoes.
Why do you think this is so? _________________________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________

Handy Tips!!! • Sharp knives should be washed on their
own. • A pastry brush can remove food from
