We are happy to welcome
you to the 2017 school year!
We hope that each of you
spent some time with your
relatives, had plenty of
laughter and took a moment
to reflect on those things that
are most important to you.
We are delighted to wel-
come new families to the
school and we wish them all a
special CityKidz welcome,
and we hope they will contin-
ue to enjoy their time at
CityKidz. We look for-
ward to working with
you. It is our mission to
help every child feel wel-
comed, connected and
part of the CityKidz fami-
ly. This would not be pos-
sible without our dedi-
cated staff. We are lucky
to have great teachers
who spend a great deal
of time planning and cre-
ating lessons that engage
our learners.
Afhco’s construction con-
tractors were very busy
during the holidays. Three
new classes have been con-
structed under the hall and
the staff room was convert-
ed into a new Grade RR
class. Twelve classes were
painted during the holidays
and four classes floors were
sanded and sealed. Our
classes are really looking so
fabulous and this enhances
the learning environment.
The new hall construction is
completed and we have a
few finishing touches to at-
tend to in order to spruce it
up. A big thanks to Afhco. The
children all seem to have en-
joyed their new start and are
already beginning to settle
well into their new classes.
PLEASE
NOTE :School
starts each day
at 7:40 am (5
minutes earlier) and pupils
are expected to arrive 5-10
mins before the bell and be
ready for class. It is very dis-
ruptive if pupils arrive after
7:40 am so please help your
child to be at school prior to
the bell.
CityKidz welcomes our families back from the December holidays and festivities.
Welcome to 2017 at CityKidz
Staff News We are delighted to welcome
our returning staff. Staffing at
CityKidz remains mainly un-
changed except for new staff
needed for the additional clas-
ses. Mrs Doreen Montihabaki
(cleaner) resigned to spend
time with her husband. Doreen
played a big part in the lives of
all at CityKidz and we will miss
her. Doreen handed the reigns
over to Yvonne Mpofu just
before the end of last year. Ms
T Dube resigned at the end of
term, we wish her well and Ms
Michelle Pretorius is the new
Grade 1B class teacher. Mrs Mar-
garet Chabalala joins the Grade 3
team. Mrs Khan resigned to teach
at a school closer to home , we
wish her well. Mrs Shalane Ha-
mel and Ms Quantaleen Kruger

lations to Mr Thomas Quarcoo,on
his appointment as HOD Intersen
Phase. Mrs C Moyo, Mrs
Strydom, Mrs T Moyo, Mr A

studies and received distinc-
tions among them. Mrs C

sadness that we heard of the
passing of Mrs Gwara’s sister
during the holidays. Our con-
dolences to her and family.Ms
Pretorius became engaged
and Mrs Heine will be going
on maternity leave shortly.

School Sports Day Saturday 28th January Jhb Cricket Club corner of 47 Bertrams and Thames Road
It is lovely to see so many children
returning to school, looking so smart
in their school uniform. However, to
complement this smart appearance,
we also expect that children will at-
tend school with the CityKidz
schoolbag, polished shoes, laces that
are tied, sunhats to keep the sun off
their heads and suitable hair
styles. Extreme haircuts, for exam-
ple patterned styles, Mohican cuts ,
coloured hair,etc are not permitted
in school. May we remind you that all
children must adhere to the school
uniform policy. The CityKidz bag is

can be expensive and that it is
frustrating when items get
