Cati Grant created this website when a teen named Megan Meier commited suicide after a 50 year old woman disguised herself as a boy Megan’s age and bullied her on My Space, this is called Cyber bullyingCati also experienced cyber bullying when she was 12 and for 3 years it went on until she told her principal

Solution

The website gives you internet safety tips and adviceYou can even share your own experience and become a memberCati tells you to tell a parent immediately and that 43% of teens are Cyber bullied and only one tenth of them tell their parents

What can I do to Help?

I and other kids around the world can help Cati on her mission by becoming a member of caticares.com, signing her guest book, and taking the pledge of being cyber bully free!

Cati's Safety 7 1. First, remember NEVER to give out personal information such as your full name, home address, school name, or telephone number in a chat room, online social sites or to a stranger you met online. 2. NEVER write to someone who has made you feel uncomfortable or scared and don't send any pictures or videos to strangers. STOP ALL CONTACT AND TELL A TRUSTED ADULT!3. Tell your parents right away if you read anything on the Internet that makes you feel uncomfortable or if someone continues to contact you when you have asked them to stop! Don't allow yourself to get in a position where you can be "BULLIED" online.

4. Remember that people online may not be who they say they are.  Sometimes people pretend to be someone else, an adult may pretend to be a child and a child may pretend to be an adult. 5. NEVER AGREE TO MEET ANY ONE YOU HAVE MET ONLINE IN PERSON! When in doubt, ask a trusted adult, like a parent, teacher or a school counselor. 6. Nowhere to turn? ASK ME! I promise to give you some good advice! Print out these helpful tips and keep next to you computer to help remind you to be SAFE!  7. Take the pledge not to BULLY others and to help yourself and other Teens be educated about and protected from online predators and crime.
