DID YOU KNOW?
Tens of thousands of children in Alabama live in a home with limited or no access to a vehicle and, thus, have no access to health care services.
For 13 years, Kid One Transport has been providing free rides to health care appointments for children and expectant mothers with little or no means of transportation.

Did You Know . . .
Kid One has registered over 16,000 children and expectant mothers statewide in 13 years of service.
Kid One completed over 17,000 transports in 2009, and served over 26, 000 clients.
Kid One has completed over 175,000 transports since 1997
Kid One operates 15 vehicles, Monday-Friday, which travel thousands of miles each week while serving nearly half the state.
We project to spend approximately $100,000 in fuel alone for 2008.

Kid One Transport offers free rides to medical appointments for children and pregnant women who have limited or no means of transportation in Alabama.
There is no enrollment cost to parents or their child(ren).
Funding is provided through caring and concerned individuals interested in improving the health of children living in Alabama.
Clients are accepted on a first come first serve basis.

Medicaid’s Non-Emergency
Transportation (NET) ProgramKid One is reimbursed for transports
through Medicaid’s Non-Emergency Transportation Program (NET)
Clients request vouches for travel vouches for specific travel appointment date
Kid One does not bill Medicaid directly

Eligibility Requirements:
You must have a permanent or temporary lack of transportation.
You must live within the current service area.
You must be under the age of 19 OR be an expectant mother in need of prenatal care.

How it Works…Kid One has made the application process
interactive!
The application is now interactive online in both English and in Spanish!
A client or medical provider can schedule a ride by simply visiting the Kid One website or by calling the office.

Phone System:
All calls related to scheduling should go as follows:
Patient Coordinators (In-take): Call Kid One press option 1 for the operations menu then press
1 for scheduling 2 for Dispatch /return trip home 3 for an application 4 for next day pick up time

Transport Team:
7 full-time and 3 part-time drivers averaging 4,000+ miles per month.
All our drivers are paid
Drivers must be 25-years of age or older, have a clean driving record, and love children.
Certified in CPR, First Aid, Defensive Driving, Exposure to Blood Borne Pathogens, Detection of Child Abuse, Stress Management, and Child Care Seat Installation/Laws.
They must pass a drug test at hiring, and are randomly selected one or more times a year for an additional test.
