ROUND 8 LAMBERT PARK
SUNDAY30TH APRIL 2017
KICKOFF
#PS4NPLNSW

WELCOME
FROM THE On behalf of the club, I would like to warmly welcome
the players, officials and supporters of Sydney Olympic to Lambert Park for what will be an absolute blockbuster clash in front of a huge crowd.
As I have previously stated, and in my humble opinion, the 2017 PS4 NPL NSW Men’s Competition is, without a doubt, the strongest ever in history.
To have a competition where every club in the League has a strong, well organised and structured playing group, and on any given day any team can win, displays the massive strength of this year’s competition.
I would also like to take this opportunity to thank our very own supporters, who this season have doubled in numbers, and also to thank, in particular, our Season Pass holders for 2017.
Furthermore, once again, our thanks are extended to the Club’s major sponsor, Wests Ashfield Leagues, and to all our Alliance Sponsors because without their financial support, the Club, in reality, could not function at this level of competition.
Of course, the Club is extremely pleased with the results and performances to date, but we are only in Round 8, with many twists and turns still to be experienced before the end of the season.
As the transfer window is opening very shortly, unlike other clubs, APIA will not be venturing into the playing market, as the Club is very satisfied with our current hardworking and committed playing group.
Currently all players have been, or will be, receiving a book of raffle tickets with tickets at $5 each.
I really do appreciate and respect that people today are sick and tired of fundraisers from football clubs, charities and schools etc. The Club and I will be extremely humbled if you would give consideration by supporting this project.
The core goal is to purchase a club bus and, if the goal is achieved, the Club Bus is for the entire Club and not the exclusive domain of any one particular team or section.
All sections of the Club will have full and equal access, being our Junior Club, the Leichhardt Tigers Junior Soccer Club, our Women and Girls’ State League, our Skill Acquisition Program and our Men and Boys’ National League.
Your support will be highly valued and kind thanks in anticipation.
Before closing, I would like to make a special mention to our Women and Girls State League, who are currently leading the Club Championship, and in a strong position to being promoted into the Tier 2 Women and Girls’ State League in 2018.
Our genuine wishes from all the Club towards this section in achieving their aims.

APIA Leichhardt Tigers have been the team to beat so far this season with six wins from seven matches.
Danial Cummins side set out to make it seven wins when they host Sydney Olympic on Sunday. APIA has performed impressively with the side finding the killer instinct it missed in 2016.
Striker Matthew West has been a revelation off the bench in the Lambert Park side’s past two games with three goals.
For Olympic, their next few matches could define their season after coach Jaime Monroy’s shock resignation on Tuesday.
Olympic has played an attractive possession based style this season which helped the Belmore side stay undefeated for the first six rounds of the year.
Defeat at the hands of Blacktown City ended their impressive run but Olympic remain one of the form teams of the competition.
Nothing less than a 90 minute performance from either side will be enough to claim the three points on Sunday.

Parramatta FC 1 - APIA Leichhardt Tigers 3 at Melita Stadium
Two late goals from super sub Matthew West has helped APIA Leichhardt Tigers clinch a 3-1 PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s competition win against Parramatta FC at Melita Stadium on Saturday night.
It was a magical final ten minutes to the match for West who gave APIA the lead in the 82nd minute before wrapping up the result with a strike in the 92nd.
It was a tough result for Parramatta, who would’ve felt they were on the cusp of securing another hard fought competition point against one of the leagues front runners when they levelled the scores through Gosue Sama in the 54th minute.
In truth the home side probably deserved something out of the game too: a series of injured players and a couple of calamitous missed chances late in the game, however ensured that it wasn’t their night.
The win elevates APIA back to the top of the table ahead of second placed Rockdale City Suns.
Sydney Olympic FC 2 - Blacktown City FC 3 at Belmore Sports Ground
Blacktown City has flexed it’s PlayStation®4 National Premier Leagues NSW Men’s premiership credentials with a hard fought 3-2 win against Sydney Olympic FC at Belmore Sports Ground on Sunday.
City looked on track to cruise to an easy win before an inspired second half performance from Olympic forced a nervous finish for the visitors.
An own goal from Yianni Spyrakis in the second minute was compounded by a Daniel Araujo strike in the opening exchanges, while Danny Choi had the result seemingly wrapped up inside the first half with a goal five minutes from the interval.
However, the game would take a dramatic turn during the second 45 minutes as a Yu Kuboki double gave Olympic hope of a miraculous comeback.
Blacktown move to third on the ladder after the win, only one point behind leaders APIA Leichhardt Tigers, and are one of two undefeated side remaining in the competition.

MATCH
APIA Leichhardt Tigers and Sydney Olympic meet at Lambert Park on Sunday afternoon a week after
picking up wildly different results in round 7: the hosts took a 4-1 win from their match against Parramatta FC at Melita Stadium, while Olympic slipped to a heavy 6-1 home defeat against Blacktown City. APIA come into round 8 in sixth place, level with seventh-placed Hakoah Sydney City East on ten points, and will be hoping to take advantage of a Sydney Olympic side in a slump: since winning their first three matches of 2017, Olympic haven’t won in over a month. The visitors travel to Lambert Park in fifth place, a point ahead of their APIA, and having most recently faced their hosts in a 2-1 win in last season’s semi finals.
