The Keyser Lions have been on the road! Our first meeting of September was our annual picnic at the West End Park. We had great food! If anyone left hungry it was their own fault! Doug Long, 2nd District Vice Governor was at the picnic to pass out chevrons recognizing three of our members for their many years of service to the Lions. The evening ended with games of bingo and great prizes. Thanks to John Cole, Mike Bane, and everyone else who made the picnic such a rousing success. Our second meeting of September - on the 20th - was a special event as well. We met at Po- tomac State at 5:00 pm. After our meal and a brief meeting we traveled to the top of Green Mountain to visit the windmill farm. Gary Wilson was our host and tour guide for this unique opportunity. You can see photos from the event on the Keyser Lions Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/#!/keyser.lions). Thanks to Liz Beavers who joined us for the tour and made sure our illustrious group was featured in the newspaper, too. Our first meeting of October will be held at Potomac State on October 4th at 6:30pm. In addi- tion to our meal and business meeting, we will hear a presentation by Lee Bensenhaver of the REM organization. Our second meeting of the month – on the 18th will also be held at Potomac State. On that night we will hear a presentation by an exchange student from Brazil. Here are a few other upcoming events that should be of interest to the Keyser Lions: The Fort Ashby Lions Club will be holding their annual Hoedown on October 6th in Fort Ashby. The Annual District 29-I Fall Conference will be held in Blackwater Falls on 19-20 October 2012. Registration forms are due by October 5th. If you plan on attending and staying the night you will need to make your own lodging reservations as the deadline has passed for the reserved block of rooms. Lion Greg Lynch has indicated that he would like to see a good turnout from our club for this event because it is so close to Keyser. You can find the registration form for this con- ference on the District Governor’s website (http://wvlions29i.blogspot.com/). The 17th Annual West Virginia Leadership School will be taking place at Flatwoods Days Hotel from January 25-27th, 2013. More information and registration forms are available on the Dis- trict Governor’s website as well. Looking forward to seeing you at many of these exciting events.
