HINT: Pop ups

When looking for a host, take into consideration if it puts pop ups on sites. Don’t just assume that because you have a pop up blocker, which blocks pop ups on YOUR site, means somebody else visiting has a pop up blocker. After lots of pop ups, most people just give up and leave the site.

3.) A Nice Layout

A nice layout is one that makes it easy to navigate and view a site. A good layout doesn’t take forever to load.

When designing a layout, remember:

SOME COLORS JUST DON’T GO TOGETHER.

If a color makes your eyes burn, DON’T USE IT.

Can’t Make Layouts?

4.) CSS Code

A website always has a good CSS Code to match the layout. When making your CSS code, always remember to match the colors. If the theme of your site is red and yellow, make the CSS code go along with that.

On some sites you can find premade CSS codes. Make sure that if you use one, it matches with the layout.

How to make a CSS Code

If you can’t code one off the top of your head (I don’t know anyone who can) then just make one using Microsoft Frontpage. It will help you make sure everything matches and make sure you have formatted everything that needs formatting. It will also give you the code to put on every page so that your CSS shows up.

5.) Crediting

Ever notice how people never respect sites that end up on Walls of Shame? Don’t be one of the people that do! Make sure you are crediting each and every person you use something from, and never ever ever steal something someone else made by claming it’s yours.

Get Yourself Off the Wall of Shame

Some site owners don’t know how to run a Wall of Shame, and innocent people get on there. Remember this:

YOU CANNOT COPYRIGHT CODE. You can copyright a layout image, but not the

code that goes along with the layout. As long as you remove the image and replace it with one you made, you are fine. If you end up on a wall of shame because of this, be sure to tell them that you can’t copyright code!
