TIPS TO THE TYPES OF TRAINING

The FBLA State Leadership Workshop offers different types of training in the forms of Academies, Tracks, and Courses. Academy: A Leadership Academy is a series of training topics linked together for those who want to maximize and concentrate their leadership development in a specific area (example: Entrepreneurship or Sports Management). If you decide to attend an Academy, you will stay in this program for the whole SLW and have a blast while you truly advance your in-depth business and leadership knowledge.

Track: A Leadership Track is a group of similar sessions with a common theme (example: Communication or Technology). Members get the most out of attending all the sessions within a Track as each workshop builds on a common strand of knowledge. However, members may elect to attend a few sessions from Tracks and attend other workshops they are interested in as they wish.

ACADEMY OVERVIEW

MARKETING ACADEMY It’s been said that nothing in business can happen until somebody makes a sale! This track is designed to take business leaders through the wild and fun world of marketing! Learn about sales, public relations, innovation, business development, and how to mix up your marketing efforts to create powerful brands that move products and services. Our market research told us that members had a keen interest in discovering how an idea becomes a product or service and how to most effectively get that product to customers. This Academy is closed to participants not signed for the entire program and is a two-day experience.

FBLA CHAPTER MANAGEMENT ACADEMY The heart of the FBLA experience happens at the local FBLA chapter. Leading FBLA is like running a small business. You have customers (members) who want the best experience. You have workers (fellow chapter officers) who need to be mobilized and empowered with an organized plan for success. This Track is a must for Chapter Presidents and is open to any region or chapter officer who wants to make a difference and help their chapter get the edge this year. Officers will be allowed to come and go from this Academy—but, we don’t recommend it. There are too many great lessons to learn about how to run a chapter that rocks!

SPORTS MANAGEMENT ACADEMY—NEW! From basketball to badminton and football to Frisbee golf there seems to be no end to the ways the world likes to compete, play, watch, and follow sports. Every other industry has customers—but this industry has FANS! Sports management continues to grow as a major field of business and this Academy is designed to give an introductory exploration to the field. This academy also features an introduction to golf on the second day of the Academy. Only 15 participants per session will receive individual instruction on the finer points of the game. Sign-ups will be made on Sunday during the Academy.
