European Implementation Collaborative (EIC) - http://www.implementation.eu/ - [email protected] Keynote Presentation – 2018 Nordic Implementation Conference Research, practice and dissemination of evidence based programmes: lessons from the Incredible Years basic parent programme in Wales Presenter: Professor Judy Hutchings, Director, Centre for Evidence Based Early Intervention, U.K. ___________________________________________________________________________ Overview The Incredible Years Parent programmes were introduced in Wales in 1999 and have since been extensively evaluated and embedded in services across Wales. This presentation summarises how the Bangor University Centre for Evidence Based Early Intervention partnered with Welsh Sure Start service providers to target identified high-risk children living in socially disadvantaged communities. This was a pragmatic trial evaluating the effectiveness of the programme when delivered by coal-face staff with fidelity and all of the necessary resources. The presentation will draw out lessons on why implementation was so successful and how it led to the prgrammes becoming embedded in services and to having an impact on Welsh and UK Government policy.
