• Westdeutscher Metallhandel has been founded by Wilhelm Hermann and his wife Thea in 1933.
In the year 1974 the company moves within Essen to Manderscheidtstraße 76–78 with increased capacities and the first high-bay warehouse for bar material with depth stacking in Germany.
Current CEO´s of WMH are Friedrich W. and Frank Hermann. They are son and grandson of the founder.
1998: Expansion of the warehouse to over 5,000 m²
Between 1999 -2001: Extensive modernisation of the business and further expansion of warehouse capacities. Investment in several CNC-controlled machines for tailor-made products and just-in-time delivery.

• 2005: WMH becomes one of Germany's leading suppliers to the aviation industry.Introduction of the ABAS ERP system, which enables considerable improvements in order processing, cost calculation and quality assurance.
2006: WMH exhibits for the first time at the aluminium trade fair in Shanghai.Acquisition of new suppliers in China.Extensive projects for modernising the warehouse and offices are begun.
2007: Inauguration of a new, fully automatic rack feeding equipment.Leasing of 1200 m² new storage space in Essen.Start of office building renovation.

The main customers in the aerospace-market are Eurocopter Germany, Airbus, EADS, Boeing and their global sub-suppliers like Korean Aerospace, Hellenic Aerospace, Sicamb, Recaro, ZIM, WMT China, Ferra Engineering, Figeac and many more.

• WMH is partly specialized in alloys for the aerospace and aircraft industry and has a large stock (about 2000tons), which is located in Essen, Germany.
WMH is certified by several companies working for the aircraft industry (e.g. Eurocopter, Rolls-Royce, PFW, Asco, Airbus, Daimler, etc.).

We are famous for our fixed blanks of sheets and plates, roundbars and our big variety of profiles (angles, channels, etc.).
