Key Attractions from Guion Farm Access Area Wintergreen Falls Wintergreen Falls is a 20-foot falls on upper Grassy Creek. Walk south through the grassy field 0.2 miles to Tarkiln Branch Road and go 1.0 mile. Turn left on to Wintergreen Falls Trail for 0.5 miles. Follow the trail across some boulders to arrive at the falls. Total distance from Guion Farm Access Area to Wintergreen Falls is 1.7 miles. Alternate Return via Tarkiln Branch Road Go 0.1 miles back down Wintergreen Falls Trail. Turn left on Sandy Trail 0.6 miles to Tarkiln Branch Road. Go right 1.1 miles via Tarkiln Branch Road and left 0.2 miles to the parking lot. Total distance from Wintergreen Falls to Guion Farm Access Area is 2.0 miles for a loop of 3.7 miles. Alternate Return via Thomas Cemetery Road Go 0.1 miles back down Wintergreen Falls Trail. Turn left on Sandy Trail 0.6 miles to Tarkiln Branch Road. Go left 0.3 miles to Thomas Cemetery Road. Turn right 0.8 miles on Thomas Cemetery Road (Wet stream crossing). Turn right on Buck Forest Road 0.5 miles. Go right 0.2 miles across field behind house to the parking lot. Total distance from Wintergreen Falls to Guion Farm Access Area is 2.5 miles for a loop of 4.2 miles. Stone Mountain Stone Mountain is the highest peak in the DuPont State Recreational Forest at 3600 feet. It offers 180-degree views in the summer and near 360-degree views in the winter. This is a 600-foot elevation change. Take Sky Valley road about 1.5 miles past the Guion Farm Access Area to the upper end of Rocky Ridge Trail on the left. Park in the clearing and walk in on Rocky Ridge Trail 0.4 miles. Turn right on Stone Mountain Trail for 1.0 mile. Cross the field to continue to the top of Stone Mountain. (FOOT TRAFFIC ONLY AFTER THE FIELD) One has to scramble up a very short steep part. Total distance from Sky Valley Road parking area to Stone Mountain is 1.4 miles. Alternate Return via Switchback Trail Turn left off Stone Mountain Trail after 0.8 miles on Switchback Trail for 0.6 miles. Go right on Frank Street for 0.3 miles and right on Sky Valley Road for 0.2 miles. Total distance of return is 1.9 miles for a round trip of 3.3 miles. Alternate Add Plantation Trail At Sky Valley Road, take a 0.1 miles jog across bridge to the left and turn right on the very nice easy Plantation Trail for 1.2 miles. After lollipop, return to Sky Valley Road for 0.5 miles. Go left on Sky Valley Road for 0.3 miles to parking area. Total distance of alternate is 2.1 Miles for a total distance of 5.2 miles. KIDS’ BIKE TRAIL AND SKILLS AREA The Kids’ Bike Trail is a loop 0.4 mile long with skills area at the west end of Guion Farm Access Area in a white pine stand. Covered Bridge, High Falls & Triple Falls Loop Covered Bridge Follow the trail behind the farmhouse 0.2 miles to a left on Buck Forest Road 2.7 miles to the Covered Bridge. Total distance from the Guion Farm Access Area to the Covered Bridge is 2.9 miles. High Falls High Falls slides 120 feet down an inclined plane of granite. The falls and the Covered Bridge can be viewed from the picnic shelter. ACCESS TO THE BASE OF HIGH FALLS IS FROM RIVER BEND TRAIL. ONCE AT THE BASE, DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CROSS THE RIVER OR CLIMB UP THE ROCKS. Cross the Covered Bridge, turn right on Cov- ered Bridge Trail for 0.2 miles and then right on High Falls Trail for 0.2 miles. Take the left fork to the picnic shelter and horse tie- out. Total distance from the Covered Bridge to High Falls is 0.4 miles. Triple Falls This 120-foot waterfall features three cascades. There are steps just up hill from the viewing area that will take you closer to the falls. NO WADING, SWIMMING OR ROCK CLIMBING IS ALLOWED AT TRIPLE FALLS! When you leave the High Falls viewing area, backtrack 0.1 miles to the High Falls Trail that turns left down the hill for 0.1 miles to the path below the shelter. Follow High Falls Trail 0.5 miles to the junction of the Triple Falls Trail at the top of the hill. Bear right 0.1 miles to the Triple Falls viewing area where there is a picnic shelter and horse tie-out. Total distance to Triple Falls is 0.8 miles from High Falls. Grassy Creek Falls, Lake Imaging and Hooker Falls Loop Grassy Creek Falls Grassy Creek is a cascade on the Grassy Creek downstream from Wintergreen Falls. Follow the trail behind the farmhouse 0.2 miles to a left on Buck Forest Road 2.2 miles. Turn right on the Lake Imaging Road 0.1 miles and a left on Grassy Creek Falls Trail 0.2 miles to the falls. Total distance from the Guion Farm Access Area to Grassy Creek Falls is 2.7 miles. FOOT TRAFFIC ONLY AFTER THE HORSE TIE-OUT Lake Imaging 1.3-acre Lake Imaging is a charming setting with a picnic shelter and fishing dock. From Gassy Creek Falls, return 0.2 miles and turn left on Hilltop Trail 1.1 miles. Turn left on Lake Imaging Road 1.1 miles. Total distance from Grassy Creek Falls to Lake Imaging is 2.4 miles. Hooker Falls The Little River drops off a 12 foot ledge at Hooker Falls before flowing into Cascade Lake further down- stream. Hooker Falls is the fourth waterfall on Little River starting with Bridal Veil Falls, then High Falls, Triple Falls and Hooker Falls. From Lake Imaging continue on Lake Imaging Road 0.2 miles to the Lake Imaging Access Area. Cross Staton Road and take Holly Road 1.4 miles to a right on Hooker Falls Road 0.3 miles to the viewing area and another 0.1 miles to the horse tie-out. Total distance from Lake Imaging to Hooker Falls horse tie-out is 2.0 miles. Total distance from Guion Farm Access Area to Hooker Falls is 7.1 miles. Return to Guion Farm Access Area Return 1.8 miles to the Lake Imaging Access Area. From the Lake Imaging Access Area, take Lake Imaging Road 0.3 miles, left on Jim Branch Trail 1.3 miles, left on Buck Forest Road 1.0 miles and right 0.2 miles behind farmhouse to return to the Guion Farm Access Area. Total distance from Hooker Falls to Guion Farm Access Area is 4.6 miles. Total loop of Grassy Creek Falls and Hooker Falls is 11.7 Miles. Return to Guion Farm Access Area Take Triple Falls Trail 0.8 miles and left on Buck Forest Road 2.9 miles and right 0.2 miles right behind the house to the Guion Farm Access Area. Turn right on the Lake Imaging Road 0.1 miles

and a left on Grassy Creek Falls Trail 0.2 miles to the falls.

Total distance from the Guion Farm Access

Area to Grassy Creek Falls is 2.7 miles.
