KA1 - Mobility Projects for School Education

Duration- From 2 days to 2 months (excluding travel time)

Open to: - School Education staff including those working with schools in

their capacity as school psychologists, Guidance counsellors etc.

Is linked to a European Development Plan Each mobility activity is:- framed within a strategic approach of the participating organisations (aimed at modernising and

internationalising their mission); - responds to clearly identified staff development needs and is accompanied by appropriate selection,

preparation and follow-up measures; -ensures that the learning outcomes of participating staff are properly recognised and ensures that the

learning outcomes are disseminated and widely used within the organisation.

Staff Mobility Teaching/training assignments: - allows staff of schools to teach at a partner school abroad; Staff training: - supports the professional development of school staff in the form of courses undertaken or a job shadowing/observation period abroad in a school or educational establishment

A mobility project will consist of:

Preparation (including practical arrangements, selection of participants, set up of agreements with partners and participants, linguistic/intercultural/task-related preparation of participants before departure);

- Implementation of the mobility activities;

- Follow-up (including the evaluation of the activities, the formal recognition - where applicable - of the learning outcomes of participants during the activity and dissemination and use of the project's outcomes).

Results of a mobility project:

-increases the capacities, attractiveness and international dimension of schools so that they are able to offer activities and programmes that better respond to the needs of pupils and staff -reinforces synergies and transitions between education, training and work -ensures a better recognition of competences gained through the learning periods abroad.-supports the professional development of those who work in education

General Eligibility Criteria

What organisations are eligible to participate in KA1 for School Education ?

Sending organisations may be Schools – designated by the Department of Education Regional Authorities involved in School Education – designated by DES

Receiving organisations may be

Schools /any public or private organisation active in the in the field of School Education.

Who can apply? A school sending teachers /staff abroad ( as per the list of schools approved by DES)

The coordinator of a National Education Consortium. ( as per list of bodies approved by DES as Regional School Authorities ) The application must also include two schools which must have an organisational link to the organisation acting as consortium coordinator.

* Individuals cannot apply directly for a grant.

Eligible Activities A School Education mobility project must comprise one or more of the following activities: - Teaching assignments abroad- Job- shadowing abroad - Staff training abroad

Number of participating organisations A mobility activity is transnational and involves minimum two participating organisations (at least one sending and at

least one receiving organisation) from different countries.

For a Consortium application , all members of the Consortium must be from the same Programme Country and need to be identified at the time of applying for a grant. A consortium must comprise two schools as well as the applicant organisation.

Duration of project

1 or 2 years.

Duration must be chosen at application stage and must be based on the objective of the project and on the type of activities planned over time.

Other criteria

• A school or National consortium can apply only once per selection round.

• However, a school may be part of different consortia with different project activities , and a Regional School Authority may coordinate several different consortia applying at the same time.

• Project duration: 1 / 2 years• One application per school or consortium• Deadline for application: Wednesday 4th March 11 a.m. Irish time

Evaluation is based on Award Criteria

-Relevance of the project (max 30 points) -Quality of the project design and implementation (maximum 40 points) -Impact and dissemination (max 30 points)

-Applications must score at least half of the maximum points in each of the above categories

-In addition, proposals must score at least 60 points to be considered eligible for funding.

- the objectives of the Action- The needs and objectives of the participating organisations and of the

individual participants

- The extent to which the proposal is suitable to:– producing high – quality learning outcomes for participants– Reinforcing the capacities and international scope of the participating
