Press Kit
Kevin Koym is the co-founder of Tech Ranch Austin, an organization that
supports technology ventures by accelerating entrepreneur success.
Kevin cut his teeth in the tech startup world as an engineer, CTO, CEO,
and VP of Sales for over seven start-ups including NeXT (now part of
Apple), Praxsys, and Pencom. Kevin’s first dollar earned as an
entrepreneur was a peso in Mexico. Since that time he’s supported tech
start-ups in Mexico, Chile, and the U.S. Now Kevin shares his scar tissue
by pairing vibrant tech start-ups with the people, processes, and
materials needed to accelerate their success. Learn more by visiting

Kevin Koym knew early on that
he wanted to help other
entrepreneurs achieve
success. As a tech
entrepreneur himself and
long-time student of Aikido,
Kevin understood the value of
shared experience and
collaborative practice both on
2
and off the mat. His
experience working with
ventures in Mexico and Chile
also taught him a great deal
about the benefits of
relationships and building
communities around
entrepreneurs—something
Kevin saw was missing from
3
most entrepreneurship
programs. In 2003, Kevin
finally made his mission to
support entrepreneurs a
reality and co-founded Tech
Ranch Austin, a tech
accelerator specializing in pre-
seed and seed stage ventures.

“Kevin is a true leader with the heart of a servant. What can Kevin
do for you? The answer is only limited by your imagination. Kevin
has a propensity to action. Kevin's aim is impeccable as he 'pulls the
trigger and rides the bullet' on target. You need to team with Kevin
to fully realize your dreams in todays world.”

“I love the way Kevin is the owner of his dreams. I love to learn about that passion.”

Founded on Principle: Risk, Respect, Community, and Excellence
1
Kevin founded Tech Ranch Austin
on the principles of Risk, Respect,
Community, and Excellence. Risk
because people need to prove that
they have skin in the game before
they can get anything in return.
Respect because, just like in
Aikido, entrepreneurs are working
together to learn and grow from
each other. No one is above
another. Community because, just
like in the old days when farmers
worked together to build barns
and harvest crops, no one can do
2
everything on their own. Last,
Excellence because in order to
grow entrepreneurs need to strive
for excellence in their work, which
requires practice and conscious
effort.
Kevin understood that the old
belief that entrepreneurs should
toil in solitude was a damaging
myth. Kevin also understood that
our economy and our social
problems depend on the

ingenuity, dedication, and
technologies created by
entrepreneurs. That’s why
Kevin built Tech Ranch Austin
so that it serves the needs of
the whole entrepreneur.
Kevin’s leadership extends
beyond the walls of Tech
Ranch to other Austin based
entrepreneur groups such as
Bootstrap Austin, an
organization with over 450
members and growing. Kevin
also continues to strengthen
his ties throughout Latin
America via the
entrepreneurship program he
co-founded, Prueba el Mundo.
Preuba educates and supports
entrepreneurs throughout
Chile, Mexico, Costa Rica,
Panama, and Colombia.
Several international
collaborations have spawned
through interactions between
Tech Ranch and Prueba el
Mundo, and many American
based companies have
benefitted from such programs
as Start-up Chile.

Kevin has a history of helping
organizations adopt and
develop new technology, with
a focus on the practices that
support organizational
effectiveness during times of
rapid growth and change.
Kevin has led many multi-
cultural teams in both
hemispheres, filling the roles
of Founder, CEO, CTO, and VP
Professional Services in seven
startups along the way.
In his previous career, he
supported Dell as a consultant
to enter into eCommerce (Dell
sold more than $1 Billion
computers on software that
Kevin’s teams have built),
similar accomplishments for
AT&T Wireless, and Apple
Computer, as well as leading
to rapid launch of a number of
startup companies. Now he
shares his knowledge as a
speaker, mentor, and coach for
startups across the Americas.
