ENJOY BEING ABOARD A WEEKEND OF WOODEN BOATS

Friday, Saturday and Sunday 5th - 7th February 2016

There have been some great additions to the program for KWBR4 . The Organizing Committee hopes that you will be able to take part in an even more enjoyable and user friendly event. Kettering Yacht Club has now settled in to its new Clubhouse, and we are taking advantage of this by concentrating an extended program in and around the KYC building. In and Around Little Oyster Cove For the first time there will be a display of shore and water based wooden vessels. Smaller vessels will be on land in the Yacht Club precinct, or afloat on the narrow waterway immediately to the north of the Clubhouse. Larger vessels (subject to space availability) will be on the outer face of the wave attenuator at Oyster Cove Marina. If you have a wooden boat which is normally berthed at Oyster Cove or South Haven Marina but don't want to take part in the on-water events, we encourage you to join in by flying the Rally Pennant over the weekend. The Management of both Marinas will welcome visitors to the boats over the Rally weekend. Those vessels which participate only in the display can obtain a Rally flag and wooden participants' plaque on payment of a reduced entry fee of only $15.00. If your vessel is for sale, and is entered for the Rally, you will be able to display a For Sale notice, (size A3 or smaller). Locations of display vessels will be available at the Clubhouse. Photographs of all participating vessels will be on show at KYC. We encourage all participants to prepare and display a description of their vessel whilst alongside. Many of you will have the boat notices from earlier appearances at the AWBF, and these would be ideal. Some brightly coloured flags flying would help visitors to find your vessel. We are going to ask participants and visitors to vote for their favourite vessel, and a “People’s Choice” Trophy and prize will be awarded at the Sunday night dinner and prize giving. The Sunday evening event was a great success last time, despite the failure of the electricity supply. It will again be held at the Clubhouse, and tickets will be strictly limited to 70. So you'll need to get in early to make sure of a place. If you don't want to attend the dinner or miss out on a ticket you will still be most welcome at the prize giving due to take place from 8:30pm. On the Derwent and the d'Entrecasteaux Channel Another exciting development is the visit of the tall ships on Sunday. Rhona H, Windeward Bound from Hobart and Yukon from the Huon will be bringing guests to the Rally, departing at 0700 on Sunday to arrive in time for our afternoon events. There will be a bus organized for those returning on Sunday afternoon. The ships will return to Hobart on Monday morning arriving in time for the Vintage and classic Sail Past at the Royal Hobart Regatta. The visit is being coordinated by the Australian Wooden Boat Festival, and details will be available on their website. In previous rallies sailing events have been held on Sunday morning and Sunday afternoon. This year we are planning sailing and motoring events for Saturday and Sunday afternoons, leaving the mornings free for socialising with other boat owners and interested visitors at the Clubhouse, or at your berth. The rowers and paddlers will again (weather permitting) venture down to Peppermint Bay for Saturday lunch. A detailed program and timing will be sent out before the event. The Derwent Class will be returning to hold their World Championship during the Rally. The last Derwent Series was held at the Centenary Cygnet Regatta, but before that the first one was a very successful series held during KWBR2 in 2012.
