KERN RIVER ARCHERS Issue 6-2016 1 | Page Kern River Archers JUNE 2016 PRACTICE RANGE IN THIS ISSUE We are down to 4 months until the High Sierra. We need to discuss clouts at the High Sierra. I know June and July are very low attendance months for the meeting. I would love to see more people show up once the summer months are over. So as I was writing the newsletter I received information about a fire at the range from Suzy (a club member). She was sending instant messages through the Facebook There has been a lot of information going out on Facebook about where it started how it happened, etc. We are only praying that it doesn’t turn around and hit us again. According to the Blaylock’s, who live close by, the clubhouse, garage, seatrains, pump house, practice area, and shooters has been spared. We’ve lost one food booth, Pretty Face (Boars Nest) and maybe about 11 targets. We really don’t know the extent. As you can see from the picture below we have guests on our range and so perhaps if the fire does pick up and move towards our area the firefighters stationed there will try to save our buildings. The Officers have been in close communication with each other at this point the most we can do is pray for the fire to get under control and for the Kern Valley residents. There has been substantial loss. 100’s of homes, two lives, and many residents are living in shelters while they wait out the evacuation orders. JUNE 2016

PRACTICE RANGE IN THIS ISSUE

We are down to 4 months until the High Sierra. We need to discuss clouts at the High Sierra. I know June and July are very low attendance months for the meeting. I would love to see more people show up once the summer months are over.

So as I was writing the newsletter I received information about a fire at the range from Suzy (a club member). She was sending instant messages through the Facebook

There has been a lot of information going out on Facebook about where it started how it happened, etc. We

are only praying that it doesn’t turn around and hit us again.

According to the Blaylock’s, who live close by, the clubhouse, garage, seatrains, pump house, practice area,

and shooters has been spared.

See more information on page 3 about the situation at the Range.

Due to the fire and damage at the Archery Range the range is now CLOSED until further notice. Please do not go to the range for any reason. The Emergency crews are utilizing our land as a staging area for the crews to meet and develop plans for bringing down this fire. They will be in contact with Paul Cooper if they need any assistance from the club.

Paul walked with the range and has determined. We have lost Pretty Face and around 12 targets. The clubhouse facilities and utilities have been opened for them to use.

Once the range has been opened back up you will receive a notice. The Officers and Board apologize for the inconvenience.

Any references to the fire in the Kern River Valley or updates on the range will be announced on the Kern River Archers Facebook page and by email, as necessary. Once the board meets I will start posting updates on the activities on the range.

The activities we schedule will need as many volunteers as possible to achieve what we need to in the allotted time.

Thank you, in advance.
