EMERGENCY CLOSING

Announcements will be made as early as possible. The district will again use the Instant Alert System to notify parents/guard-ians of school closings, early dismissal or late starts. You may also listen to WCCO 830 AM, KDHL 920 AM, or KROC 106.9 FM for announcements. When school is closed or dismissed early, Community Education classes do not meet.

South Country Health Alliance Minnesota Partners with Community Education

SCHA Minnesota members may take up to a $15 discount per class on up to five classes per year. To qualify for the discount, the member must be enrolled with SCHA during the month of his/her Community Educa-tion class. A copy of the insurance card with the member’s SCHA ID num-ber must be presented to Community Education with the registration. Each registration must also include a credit card number. This will be charged in in the event the $15 claim is refused. For more information, call SCHA’s Member Services at 1-866-567-7242.

Registration InformationHow Do I Register?Online: Register for classes on the K-W School Website at www.kw.k12.mn.us. Click on the Community Education link.

By Mail: Send your check, money order, or credit card information with the completed registration form to: K-W Community Education, 400 Sixth St., Kenyon, MN 55946. Indicate your class number and name on the registration form and include your payment.

Who Do I Pay?Please make checks payable to K-W Community Education. Checks will be deposited when received. If a class or registration is cancelled a refund check will be distributed.

When Can I Sign Up?Registration begins immediately. If space is still available in a class, registrations are taken as long as possible, depending on the supplies needed by the instructor. Early registra-tions help ll classes on time and reduce the chances that the class will be canceled. Thanks for helping Community Education and our instructors by registering as early as possible. If the class minimum is not met, classes will be canceled one week prior to the start date.

RefundsIf you cannot attend a class you will receive a refund up to one-week prior to the class, unless an earlier deadline is specied. After that date your refund will be based on sup-plies or fees already incurred. Trips cannot be refunded after the registration closes. A $5.00

fee is applied to all classes canceled by the participant.

ScholarshipsScholarships for Early Childhood Family Education are available. A sliding fee discount is listed on page 4 or contact Shannon Johnson, 507-789-7015 for more information. All ECFE registrationsare welcome, regardless of ability to pay.

Class Location Information KWM/HS is the Kenyon-Wanamingo Middle/High School in Kenyon at 400 Sixth St. KWES is the Kenyon-Wanamingo Elementary School in Wanamingo at 225 3rd Ave.

You are invited to participate in the classes and activities in this catalog. We will make ev-ery effort to provide the ac-commodations necessary to help make your Community Education experience enjoy-able and accessible. Early Childhood Screening Early Childhood Screening is a FREE health and development screening required by the state before your child enters public preschool or kindergarten. Afton Alps - Non-School Day! Grades 5-8Enjoy a fantastic day on the slopes; fee includes ski lesson, ski rental, lift ticket and transportation. Whether you are a brand new skier or an experi-enced one, Afton Alp’s certied instructors will help you improve your skills. Students will participate in a safety lesson and each student must return the ski rental form with parent and student signature for your registration to be complete. Spring Volleyball Grades 3rd, 4th, 5th Volleyball will meet in March and April. Coaches will hold 1 or 2 practices per week. Teams will participate in area play dates and tourneys. Community Education does not provide transportation for this event. K-W is hosting a playdate for grades 3 - 5 this Spring date TBD. We hope to participate in additional play dates as well. 2017 Youth Soccer: Grades 1-6We are offering the same format as last year with Tuesday practices and Saturday games. This combination of skill building and friendly competition goes along with our program objectives and philosophy. Practices are held in Kenyon and Saturday games at the Covered Bridge Park in Zumbrota. The games have league-sanctioned referees, nets, and fields specific for each age level.

K-W Community Education is not providing transportation for this event. Rosters are due to Zumbrota-Mazeppa Community Education shortly after the deadline and late registrations will be accepted on a space available basis once rosters are set.

Saturday Games: April 22, 29, May 6, 13 All games will be played between 8:30 a.m. and Noon at the Covered Bridge Park, Zumbrota, MN. A tourna-ment will conclude the season on May 20.

Practices: Tuesdays April 4, 11, 18, 25, May 2, 9, 16 Grades 1-4 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and Grade 5-6 from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

Volunteer parent coaches are needed and will receive a team T-shirt. Trips Decorah Iowa Historical GemDecorah, IA is designated as a little taste of Nor-way. Not only because one half of its residence are of Norwegian background, but also, because of its Norway-like physical beauty. Decorah is rated by many travel publications as one of the best little towns in America. Our tour will include a visit to the Vesterheim Norwegian-American Museum, the largest immigrant museum in the United States. We will take part in a bus and walking tour of the historic sections of Decorah. We will step inside and tour the famous Hotel Winneshiek, a beautiful 1904 his-toric hotel. We will also visit the Seed Savers Heritage Farm and it’s 190 acre living museum of historic heirloom seeds and endangered food crops. 2017 Youth Soccer: Grades 1-6We are offering the same format as last year with Tuesday practices and Saturday games. This combination of skill building and friendly competition goes along with our program objectives and philosophy. Practices are held in Kenyon and Saturday games at the Covered Bridge Park in Zum-brota. The games have league-sanctioned referees, nets, and fields specific for each age level.

K-W Community Education is not providing transportation for this event. Rosters are due to Zumbrota-Mazeppa Com-munity Education shortly after the deadline and late registrations will be accepted on a space available basis once rosters are set.

Saturday Games: April 22, 29, May 6, 13 All games will be played between 8:30 a.m. and Noon at the Covered Bridge Park, Zumbrota, MN. A tournament will conclude the season on May 20.

Practices: Tuesdays April 4, 11, 18, 25, May 2, 9, 16 Grades 1-4 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. and Grade 5-6 from 6:00-7:30 p.m.

Volunteer parent coaches are needed and will receive a team T-shirt. Please contact Community Education.• Requests for family members to be on the same team will be accepted. • Soccer rosters and schedules will be distributed to students on or before March 24.• Students are required to have shin guards, a soccer ball & water bottle for each practice.• A soccer T-shirt to be worn at all games is included in the fee. • Be sure to include T-shirt size on registration form If registering online, go to family information page for your child to specify shirt size.Deborah Quam Photography• will be offering memory mate photo packages.
