No one cares for us the way God does. Isaiah delights us with a deeply inmate image of God caring for us “as a mother comforts her child.” The prophet describes us not as the usual “children of God,” but as “babies.” We should not resist this image, but rejoice in it. Trusng in God’s care, we can all let down our guard and rest like infants in the lap of our mother. Saint Paul’s trust in God allows him to be at peace like this. He boldly declares that no one can “make troubles” for him, because he has given himself completely to Jesus. And when Jesus sends his disciples out to preach and heal, he challenges them not to provide for themselves, but to let faith be their guide. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

From the Pastor's Pen…

It is now official: we have become a new family of parishes!

On July 2nd, St. Michael Dresden, Sacred Heart Port Lambton, Holy Family Wallaceburg and Our Lady Help of Christians Wallaceburg were linked together as one of six new families of parishes across the diocese. We look forward to getting to know each other better and to the opportunities for ministering together that our new family will present. A big thank you to our transition team for all their work in helping this implementation to go smoothly.

We will be welcoming Bishop Fabbro to come and celebrate with our new family November 22nd for Mass and dinner, so please mark your calendars and come out to join us then. Please also continue to pray for our all of our parishes as we move forward, asking the Holy Spirit to be our helper and guide!

GOD’S PROVIDENCE—July 7th

Today’s readings celebrate God’s providence. No matter how wonderful (or heartbreaking) our relationships are, God always provides for us. No one cares for us the way God does. Isaiah delights us with a deeply intimate image of God caring for us “as a mother comforts her child.” The prophet describes us not as the usual “children of God,” but as “babies.” We should not resist this image, but rejoice in it. Trusting in God’s care, we can all let down our guard and rest like infants in the lap of our mother. S. Paluch Co.
