Kelmscott Roos Sponsors for 2019
The President would like a word… Welcome to Frye Park, and to our friends, Swan Utd FC.
2019 is a year to remember – it is Kelmscott’s 50th year, and also the year
which Swan Reserves coach Colin Morgan’s first baby was born – well done Col,
and many congratulations.
Many thanks to all of our sponsors, committee and everyone that helps out at
the club.
Enjoy the game, and join us for a drink in the bar afterwards.
President, Kelmscott Roos SC - Dennis Warwick
Coaches Corner
Welcome to Dundo and everyone from Swan United and I hope you enjoy our
hospitality.
Every game now counts and every club is fighting for those 3 points to make top
four. As always, we are taking it a game at a time and today we hope to put up a
good performance and get a deserving result.
The boys have been working hard as always and there has been some marked
improvement in terms of consistency from most players. We need to pick up
points to escape the strangle-hold of the mid-table. The players will give it all
they have to get pleasing results for the club, and as always, the determination
is there - hopefully everyone stays focused.
Our ressies are performing well and are ready to put in another great
performance, which is pleasing to see the hard work Richie and Clem are putting
in come to fruition. Issi and the 18’s are also putting in a good shift every game,
so fingers crossed they come out with the points today.
May the games be played in good spirit - all the best to everyone today. Please
join us for a bite, drink and chat after the games.
First Team Coach, Kelmscott Roos SC – Richard Changadzo

FOOTBALL FACTS
1. Football is the only major sport in the world in which you can’t manipulate the ball, or object of play… (I think there’ll be a few goalkeepers who disagree with that one…)
2. In the 7th century BC, the North African Berbers played a football-
like game as a fertility rite.
3. A British football legend holds that a footballer once leapt into a
canoe to chase a ball that had been kicked off the pitch and into a
nearby river. By the time he got back to the game, the teams had
found another ball…and his team lost.
4. The 2nd World Cup was hosted in Italy. Because Italy had refused
to attend the 1st World Cup in Uruguay, Uruguay chose to snub
Italy – making the only time a champion team was not present to
defend their title.
5. During WWI, Britain’s 4 national football associations (England,
Scotland, Northern Ireland & Wales) pulled out of FIFA, after FIFA
ignored their demands that Germany and its war allies be kicked
out of the organisation.
6. Consetto LoBello, an Italian soccer referee from the mid-20th
century, is one of the sport's most iconic and remembered
referees. Wearing immaculate clothes and sporting a waxed
moustache, he would often knock players to the ground while
making forceful calls.
7. In the Middle Ages, Londoners played an early and very violent
form of soccer every Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash
Wednesday and the beginning of Lent. The game origin suggests
the macabre notion that the 'ball' was originally a severed head
tossed into the waiting crowd following an execution.
