Simmental Beef on the Cutting Edge

  • GENERAL SALE INFORMATIONTerms and Conditions: This sale is conducted under the standard terms and conditions adopted by the American Simmental Association. If you have any questions, please contact us. In no instance shall the seller be responsible for more than the purchase price of the bull.

Registration Papers: Registration papers will be provided upon request to those who want them. Please let them know in the sale office.

Feeding Arrangements: If you are unable to take your bulls home on sale day, we will feed them until April 20th, at the cost of $1.50 per head per day. We are not responsible for accidents on the bulls brought back to the ranch; therefore we encourage you to insure your purchases before they are sent back home with us. The bulls that we take home to feed will be put in with our bulls and cared for in the same manner we care for our own.

Trucking: $50 discount for those that haul their bull(s) home on sale day. If the purchaser requests after the sale, we will assist in making delivery arrangements. We will deliver bulls to central locations within a 200 mile radius of Mandan.

Health: All animals have been vaccinated three times with Vision 7/Covexin 8, Virashield 6 +/- Express 5 + Haemophilus somnus, Pulmoguard-PMH, Mycoplasma and Clostridium Type A. They were treated for internal and external parasites with an avermectin and Safeguard. Our entire herd is being monitored for Johnes disease and we continue to test new additions and do random testing within the herd.

Scrotal Circumference: Scrotal circumference and ultra sound data information will be available sale day or on our website (kbhrsimmental.com) prior to the sale.

Breeding Soundness Examinations: If bulls are sent back to the ranch with us, they will be tested at the ranch prior to delivery. If taken home on sale day, we encourage you to have your bulls tested prior to turn out for breeding.

Feeding Program: These cattle have had no creep feed. They were weaned onto a high roughage diet. The starting diet consisted of chopped hay and corn silage. Then we slowly added rolled corn and distillers grain to their ration. They have been on a TMR ration which includes Hubbards Grain Rite consisting of chelated minerals and vitamins. Hubbard tests all of our feed samples and make balanced ration recommendations. We slowly step them up on a bull development ration.

Announcements: Announcements made sale day, and from the auction block during the sale, take precedence over printed material in the catalog or other printed material associated with the sale.

    Selling:

  • Hello Friends and Fellow Cattlemen!

What a year it has been in the cattle business. Were seeing prices that we have never seen before and the outlook looks good for the next several years. It looks like were finally starting to be paid for what we do I like the concept! It is the best time to upgrade the quality of genetics in our seedstock and commercial operations.

We backed the ration off this year to bring the bulls along a little more slowly. Our goal is to make them as sound and healthy as possible to help prevent problems for you when you take them home and turn them out to work. We like to see the ADG run between 3 to 4 pounds. There are always some outliers though that mange to gain at a higher rate on the same ration.

This is the most even set of bulls weve raised and the quality runs deep all the way through the entire set. Our philosophy has evolved over the years to include use of all the selection tools available. We use indexes, DNA, EPDs, ultrasound, actual data and visual appraisal. By doing this we know we are continually improving our cattle and in all respects possible, so you can select bulls and heifers that meet your own breeding program goals.

We look forward to seeing you at the sale on March 9th. Youre also welcomed to stop by the ranch and look at the bulls and heifers a few days before the sale so you can spend more time going through them and their bloodlines.

On behalf of my family, wed like to say thank you for your support over the years. We trust that the hard work weve all put into raising high quality cattle will continue to pay off for many years to come!

    Hope to see you soon,

The Kellers Dwight & Susan, Luke, Jake and Tess Keller

Wed like to pay tribute to Susans Mother, Gertie, who went home to be with her Lord, this past November.

She thoroughly enjoyed visits to ND, especially on sale day! And of course, she always brought homemade cookies to share with everyone. Gertie knew no strangers She loved everyone and everyone that knew her, loved Gertie!

We will always miss her but are so grateful for the treasured memories.

  • 5RED & BLACK SIMMENTAL AND SIMANGUS BULLS

A very eye appealing well designed and good dispositioned bull. He is wide based from the front end, has good rib shape, hes level over his top and thick from behind. He has a good solid set of numbers and should do excellent for anyone looking for a black bull. This bull also had a 825 adj. WW out of a nice first calf heifer!
